HAWAI`I NEEDS YOUR HELP
Native Hawaiian Rights Are About To Be Lost Forever

S147 – The Native Hawaiian Reorganization Act of 2005, otherwise known as the “Akaka bill,” will be voted on by the US Congress some time this month.

It will force federal recognition on Hawaiians against their will.

The Akaka bill is bad for Hawai`i and bad for the U.S.

The Akaka bill threatens to dispossess Hawaiians of their land and natural resources - just as many Native Americans have been dispossessed of theirs.

Here's How You Can Help Us Stop The Akaka Bill -

Go to http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

Dear Senator,

I write to express strong opposition to S.147, also known as the Native Hawaiian Reorganization Act of 2005. It falsely purports to award political self-determination to Native Hawaiians through US federal recognition.

S.147 names the US Department of Interior as the administrative agency to oversee, authorize and implement a political / economic settlement between Native Hawaiians and the United States of America.

US District Court Judge Royce Lamberth has repeatedly found the Department of Interior in contempt for it’s unconscionable refusal and inability to account for untold millions of acres and billions of Native American dollars.

You must recognize that Department of Interior involvement in any political and economic settlement for Native Hawaiians is outrageous.

Additionally, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, an Hawai`i State agency, is illegally spending Native Hawaiian trust funds to lobby for the passage of S.147.

Neither the Office of Hawaiian Affairs nor Governor Lingle, nor Senators Akaka or Inouye, or any other S.147 proponent, speaks for me on this bill!

I stand unified with my Hawaiian brothers and sisters, staunchly opposed to S.147.

Please help us defeat this bill. PLEASE VOTE “NO” ON S.147.

Thank you,
