SEE THE MAGIC OF KUPUNA ISLANDS ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

Mahalo nui to you all for your many positive comments and feedback on our Kupuna Islands segment featuring Sabra Kauka.

Whether you watched on O`ahu, or saw it online if you live outside of Hawai`i, we're glad you like the show.

We share Kupuna Islands now with the rest of our viewers this week starting with Maui.

As we said, Kaua`i resident Sabra Kauka, who went on the trip, reports, "It’s our kuleana (responsibility) to protect this environment because it's the nursery for the younger, inhabited Hawaiian Islands. We Kanaka Maoli [Native Hawaiian] are spiritually, genealogically, and culturally linked to these Kupuna.”

Well, naturally, we sat down with her and got the whole story in amazing and beautiful pictures and words.

And if you like this, we have a lot more amazing people and places coming your way soon on Voices Of Truth - One-On-One With Hawai`i's Future -

MONDAY, October 10th - On Na Leo Television, channel 54, on both sides of Hawai'i island at 7:00 PM
"Anthropology-An Hawaiian Journey - A Visit With Steven Boggs."

Retired University of Hawai`i anthropology professor Steven Boggs, a long time resident, as well as a strong supporter of Independence for Hawai`i reveals what led him to that view.

He talks about his early years, visiting schools in Nanankuli and what 6 year old students taught him about being Kanaka Maoli and living under a foreign occupation.

Professor Boggs relates the dispossession of the Kanaka Maoli he has witnessed, what causes it, and most importantly, what we all can do about it.

Don't miss this inspirational message from an educator who not only has witnessed the past, but has a message of hope for the future.

WEDNESDAY, October 12th - On Akaku, Channel 53 at 6:30 PM

"Kupuna Islands - A Visit With Sabra Kauka."

In a very unique and special brand new second season segment, Kaua'i resident Sabra Kauka takes us along on the 2005 Educators Expedition to the Kupuna (Ancestor) Islands, also known as the Northwest Hawaiian Islands.

A Hawaiian cultural practitioner and educator, Sabra was one of only ten Hawai’i educators selected for this “first-of it’s-kind” opportunity, where the environment of the Kupuna Islands is very beautiful, but also very fragile.

Don't miss this incredible opportunity as she shares highlights and photos on this spiritual and very special voyage.

"Woman Of Accomplishment - A Visit With Jackie Kaho`okele Burke."

In`another of our new second season segments, Jackie reminds us of the saying, "If you want something done, just ask a busy person to do it."

As if being publisher of the `Oiwi Files wasn't enough, Jackie has somehow found time to launch a plan for Sovereignty Buses that will travel throughout Hawai`i as well as across the US to educate and spread the message of Kanaka Maoli self-determination.

On top of that, she plans to film a documentary on the project as the buses travel.

And did we mention that she also has not one but two masters degrees as part of her action plan?

We're sure you'll agree that Jackie's a superb role model for making things happen as she shares with us her exciting vision for the future of Hawai`i.
