MAUNA KEA IN BEAUTIFUL PICTURES & WORDS ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

Have you ever wondered what's it's like at the very top of Mauna Kea? What discoveries would await you on the trip up - by foot?

Well, wait no more.

Honolulul physician Dr. Baron Ching, along with others, actually completed a huaka`i or voyage up Mauna Kea on foot and he reveals how it changed his life.

As you'll both hear and see, it made a huge impact on Baron and he on it.

So, if you've wanted to venture to a place in Hawai`i where few others have, here's your chance to experience what it's like first hand this week on Voices Of Truth - One-On-One With Hawai`i's Future.

MONDAY, February 13th At 7:00PM & FRIDAY, February 17th At 5:30 PM-
Hawai`i Island - Na Leo, Channel 54
"Huaka`i, A Personal Voyage Through Hawaiian Culture - A Visit With Dr. Baron Kohola Ching"

What would cause someone to embark upon a trek up to the highest point in Hawai`i where the air is so thin it's difficult to breathe?

What's in the Hawaiian culture that would cause a person to both hula and `oli (chant) on the top of Mauna Kea on Hawai`i Island?

And why would someone who is koko `ole (no Hawaiian blood) feel the need to do it?

Our own Baron Ching, who's a descendant of a citizen of the Hawaiian Kingdom, answers all these questions and a whole lot more.

Don't miss Baron, as he shows us stunning photos of his trip up the mountain and reveals more about his own personal voyage to help create a brighter future for Hawai`i.

WEDNESDAY, February 15th At 6:30 PM - Maui - Akaku, Channel 53

THURSDAY, February 16th At 8:30 PM - Kaua`i - Ho`ike, Channel 52
"Anthropology-An Hawaiian Journey - A Visit With Steven Boggs."

Retired University of Hawai`i anthropology professor Steven Boggs, a long time resident, as well as a strong supporter of Independence for Hawai`i reveals what led him to that view.

He talks about his early years, visiting schools in Nanankuli and what 6 year old students taught him about being Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) and living under a foreign occupation.

Professor Boggs relates the dispossession of the Kanaka Maoli he has witnessed, what causes it, and most importantly, what we all can do about it.

Don't miss this inspirational message from an educator who not only has witnessed the past, but has a message of hope for the future.

A champion slack key guitar player as well as diver and fisherman, Keli`i has lived his conviction that our resources are sustainable - but only if we malama (care for) them.

While he shared with us details of his trips to Samoa and Washington, DC, his conviction that Hawai`i no ka 'oi (is the best) comes through loud and clear.

Taped on his Moloka`i ranch, be sure and watch as Keli'i serenades us with his music and speaks from the heart about issues important to us all that are indeed timeless.
