IT'S "TELL A FRIEND WEEK" ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

As we mentioned last week, an attempt will be made this coming Thursday, June 8th, to pass the Akaka bill in the US Congress.

Most of us know by now that, if passed, this legislation would be a disaster for Hawai`i in many ways.

It will affect the future of every single Hawaiian who will live from that point forward.

Most importantly, it will legitimize all Hawaiian Kingdom land thefts and remove forever any hope of legal recourse or recovery.

And once again, it will perpetuate a lie that the people of Hawai`i embraced this travesty when in fact, poll after poll shows just the opposite.

So it’s “Tell A Friend Week.”

Now’s the time to approach someone you know who’s for the bill or still undecided, and invite them to sit down with you and watch our segments.

Both “A Violation Of Trust – Part Two,” and “A Global Warrior” document clearly the undeniably brutal outcomes of federal recognition.

Educate everyone you can who might still be undecided or unaware others may soon be deciding their fate and the fate of all future generations to come.

Whether family or friends, sit them down, have them watch, and then discuss the implications of the message we bring you this very important week on

They continue to recount their dramatic life of poverty and deprivation under federal recognition as well as their constant battles with the US federal government and alien economic opportunists.

As Native people who actually live in the Arctic Circle, they came to Honolulu to tell their story through panel discussions and an Artic Film Festival at the State Capitol when refused an opportunity to speak at last years Council For Native Hawaiian Advancement conference.

As in part one, hear for yourself what the future will hold should federal recognition ever become reality in Hawai`i.

“Global Warrior – A Visit With Mililani Trask”

Virtually everyone in Hawai`i has heard of Mililani Trask.

Most are familiar with her many years at the forefront of the self-determination struggle for the Hawaiian Nation.

But not everyone many know of her more recent work on the world stage to advance the cause of a Free Hawai`i.

With her frontline participation as part of the Pacific Caucus in the fifth annual Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at the UN in New York this week and next, we made an effort to catch up with Mililani recently at `Iolani Palace.

What she told us was both fascinating and exciting.

As head of Na Koa Ikaika O Ka Lahui Hawai`i, Mililani spends her time at the United Nations in New York City and Geneva, Switzerland, among other world capitals, to bring the international family of nations together to demand the U.S. own up to its complicity in what happened 113 years ago by ending human rights abuses against Native Hawaiians, and returning Hawai`i’s land and natural resources to their rightful owners.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to find out how other peoples of the world view the illegal overthrow and occupation of Hawai`i and what goes on at the highest levels of world diplomacy to make it right.

THURSDAY, June 8th At 8:30 PM & FRIDAY, June 9th At 8:30 AM - Kaua`i - Ho`ike, Channel 52
“Woman Of Accomplishment – A Visit With Jackie Kaho`okele Burke”

Jackie reminds us of the saying, "If you want something done, just ask a busy person to do it."

As if being publisher of the `Oiwi Files wasn't enough, Jackie has somehow found time to launch a plan for Sovereignty Buses that will travel throughout Hawai`i as well as across the US to educate and spread the message of Kanaka Maoli self-determination.

On top of that, she plans to film a documentary on the project as the buses travel.

And did we mention that she also has not one but two masters degrees as part of her action plan?

We're sure you'll agree that Jackie's a superb role model for making things happen as she shares with us her exciting vision for the future of Hawai`i.

Don't miss our interview with this wahine whose boundless energy and ideas never seem to end!

Voices of Truth interviews those creating a better future for Hawai`i to discover what made them go from armchair observers to active participants in the hopes of inspiring viewers to do the same.
