POWERHOUSES FOR THE FUTURE ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

We continue this week with showcasing individuals who not only are working tirelessly to create a brighter future for a Free Hawai`i, but have also taken it upon themselves to bring the “What’s next?” we’ve been focusing on the past few weeks directly into everyone’s lives.

Meleanna Meyer, one of three sisters who are virtual duplicate powerhouses of each other, seems to be everywhere at once telling anyone who will listen her vision of what’s possible both in Hawai`i and in people’s lives.

Spend ten minutes with her and you’ll feel as though anything’s possible.

As multi-talented as she is driven, she lets nothing stop her as she gets her message out through film, speaking, writing, and maybe most important of all, working with our kamali`i (teens.)

Kumu John Keola Lake and Mililani Trask have dedicated their entire lives towards the future.

Kumu, bringing treasures of the past to today and tomorrow and Mililani with her work on the international stage have both made innumerable contributions towards a brighter future for Hawai`i.

Stay tuned – we’re going to have some exciting new announcements coming soon for a Free Hawai`i on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

MONDAY, July 17th At 7:00 PM & FRIDAY, July 21st At 5:30 PM - Hawai`i Island - Na Leo, Channel 54
“An Artist-Educator's Contribution To The Future - A Visit With Meleanna Meyer"

Here's the story of how one person can make a difference in the lives of many by asking “How can I help create Independence in the lives of many?”

Melanna Aluli Meyer, who happens to generate more energy than Hawaiian Electric, tell us of all her activities, two of which really stand out - her artwork, some of which she displays for us, and also her work that's creating a real impact, with Hawaiian girls at risk.

Of course besides all of this she's an award winning filmmaker, motivational speaker and author.

Just give her another ten minutes or so and she'll be adding to that list of accomplishments.

Ever thought, “How can little old me make a difference?" Then this is the one to watch as Melanna gives all of us enough inspiration to make anything happen.

WEDNESDAY, July 19th At 6:30 PM & THURSDAY, July 20th At 6:45 AM - Maui - Akaku, Channel 53
“Keeping The Old Ways Alive – A Visit With Kumu John Keola Lake”

A true legend, Kumu John Lake lives his heritage.

For more than four decades he has shared his knowledge of Hawaiian language, hula and chant. And he’s done it with a geniality that draws people to him, that recalls the kupuna (elders) of old.

Because of his love for the culture, it comes out in his personality, the way he teaches and shares information. He makes you want to be informed and live it yourself.

Why then is it so important to bring the knowledge of the past to the present? What messages do our ancestors have waiting for us to learn today?

Join us as we visit with Kumu Lake, an incomparable wellspring of knowledge who has made a priceless impact on so many, as he shows us why the lessons of old are the keys of success for our Nation today.

THURSDAY, July 20th At 8:30 PM & FRIDAY, July 21st At 8:30 AM - Kaua`i - Ho`ike, Channel 52
SATURDAY, July 22nd At 8:00 PM - O`ahu - 'Olelo, Channel 53
“Global Warrior – A Visit With Mililani Trask”

Virtually everyone in Hawai`i has heard of Mililani Trask.

Most are familiar with her many years at the forefront of the self-determination struggle for the Hawaiian Nation.

But not everyone many know of her more recent work on the world stage to advance the cause of a Free Hawai`i.

With her frontline participation as part of the Pacific Caucus in the fifth annual Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at the UN in New York this last May, we made an effort to catch up with Mililani recently at `Iolani Palace.

What she told us was both fascinating and exciting.

As head of Na Koa Ikaika O Ka Lahui Hawai`i, Mililani spends her time at the United Nations in New York City and Geneva, Switzerland, among other world capitals, to bring the international family of nations together to demand the U.S. own up to its complicity in what happened 113 years ago by ending human rights abuses against Native Hawaiians, and returning Hawai`i’s land and natural resources to their rightful owners.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to find out how other peoples of the world view the illegal overthrow and occupation of Hawai`i and what goes on at the highest levels of world diplomacy to make it right.

Voices of Truth interviews those creating a better future for Hawai`i to discover what made them go from armchair observers to active participants in the hopes of inspiring viewers to do the same.

Those not in Hawai`i wishing to view the series may do so by visiting
www.olelo.org and then clicking "NAT-Channel 53."

A screen should then display allowing you to see the show via live streaming.
