HAWAIIAN NATIONAL SPEAKS OUT ON FEDERAL RECOGNITION

Letter To Editor In Office Of Hawaiian Affairs Newspaper Takes OHA To Task For Selling Out Hawaiian Kingdom Nationals

“…the US government redefines Native American status and redefines Hawaiian Kingdom status as being only one ethnicity.

However, contrary to popular belief, the Hawaiian Kingdom is composed of a multi-ethnic citizenry.

Hawaiian nationals reject the US proposal to diminish our status from peer to the USA, to a subjected wardship of the USA.

Our status is like that of Switzerland, a neutral state with external sovereignty recognition.

…[The Akaka bill] is a US domestic law and policy external to the Hawaiian Kingdom, which is subject to its own laws.

…We deplore the illusionary Akaka bill and will continue to fight it.

…Hawai`i’s situation is an embarrassment to the USA.”
