WOMEN WHO INSPIRE ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

A big mahalo to all who contacted us this last week with feedback on our new segment showcasing Sabra Kauka.

You’re correct – Sabra is indeed an inspiration to watch as well as learn from in keeping the culture alive. She’s surely one of today’s prototype wahine Hawai`i Maoli (Native Hawaiian women.)

Those of you who’ve commented on our featuring several wahine lately on Voices Of Truth are also correct.

From Marie Beltran, to Sabra and Manu Meyer, we do so because of the fundamental and important role women play in a Free Hawai`i.

So if you have a mother, daughter, sister, niece or cousin who’s struggling to find her place in creating a better future for Hawai`i, have her catch Sabra and Manu this week for a little inspiration and direction.

Both are indeed faces of a Free Hawai`i on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

“Carrier Of The Culture – A Visit With Sabra Kauka”

Since Sabra lasted visited us on Voices Of Truth, she hasn’t stopped for a minute, doing what she does best – preserving the culture.

She shares with us in telling and pictures about her participation in the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, DC. as the leader of the Hawaiian weavers delegation for Carriers of Culture: Living Native Basket Traditions.

Then Sabra gives us a tantalizing review and much background information on the phenomenal Ho`okahi Kapa - the contemporary kapa exhibit at Bishop Museum with more incredible photos.

And finally if all that isn’t enough, she goes on to describe what very few have ever gotten to see firsthand on her own island - Nu`alolo Kai, an ancient Kaua`i valley left untouched for hundreds of years the way the people of old left it.

Don’t miss this incredible segment as Sabra describes her involvement in the caretaking of this amazing site on the Na Pali Coast. The entire show is filled with stories and photos you’ll long remember of all three events.

“Aloha Is Our Intelligence – A Visit With Manu Aluli Meyer”

“If knowledge is power, then understanding is liberation.”

Manu Myer is not your average educator - or human being for that matter.

Growing up as someone who was much better in the school yard than with school books, Manu quickly developed what few of her teacher’s saw – an incredible intellect and capacity for motivating others.

Today, Manu is in a class all by herself – as comfortable with Hawaiian epistemology and quantum physics as she is with her own ukulele.

Having just returned from a year in Aotearoa (New Zealand) packed with incredible adventures and experiences, she reveals not only what she learned, but why the people and `aina of that placed have so deeply affected her.

Be sure and sit your entire `ohana (family) down and hear Manu as she reveals what quantum physics and indigenous culture have in common, as well as her vision of a Free Hawai`i few of us have ever imagined. We promise this is one Hawai`i Maoli wahine you’ll remember for a long time to come.
