SUPERFERRY TO MAKE MAUI TEST RUN
Honolulu Advertiser - December 10, 2007
The Superferry is scheduled to arrive in Kahului Harbor tomorrow morning between 10 AM and 11 AM to realign the vessel with the pier and barge following repairs to the structures made by the state Department of Transportation.
Storm-related damage to the pier and a state-owned barge used to load and unload vehicles from the 350-foot ship forced Hawai`i Superferry to postpone its launch by a week, to Thursday.
The Alakai will depart Kahului and return to Honolulu after realignment is completed, a Superferry news release said.
For tomorrow's arrival, the U.S. Coast Guard's 100-yard moving security zone that is standard for large passenger ships will be in effect, the news release said.
The temporary fixed security zone in Kahului Harbor will not be in effect until Thursday.
