The birthday of Queen Lili`uokalani, Hawai`i’s last reigning monarch, is observed today at `Iolani Palace in Honolulu.

Ka Lei Maile Ali`i – The Queen’s Women, a reenactment of events at the time of the illegal takeover of Hawai`i will be presented at 2 PM in the Kana`ina building on Palace grounds.

Guided walking tours illustrating events leading up to Hawai`i’s takeover will begin at 5 PM daily and run through September 10th. All events are free and the public is encouraged to attend.

The US congress is returning from summer recess and guess what’s on the calendar? If you said the Akaka bill, you’re correct. Watch Free Hawai`i TV this coming Wednesday to find out if it’s back on track.
