OHA TRUSTEES TO DOWNSIZE LLCs & REPLACE MANAGERS
Yesterday the Office Of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees emerged from a closed executive session discussion of the Resources Management Committee and approved an action item calling for a plan to downsize the OHA LLCs and replace their managers.
The OHA Administration was tasked with reporting back on the feasibility and timing of such a plan by June 30th, 2018. The action item must now go to the general Board of Trustees meeting for ratification.
According to Trustee Keli`i Akina, “OHA has been subject to a great deal of public scrutiny over its subsidiary LLCs. It’s time for OHA Trustees to act upon concerns raised by the recent State Audit findings, the recommendations of legal professionals, and the testimony of numerous OHA beneficiaries.”
The action item passed in the Resources Management Committee with a vote of 7 ayes, 1 abstain (Akana), and 1 absent (Apo).
The current managers of OHA’s LLCs consist of OHA’s CEO Kamana’opono Crabbe, CFO David Laeha, and COO Lisa Victor. The action item is designed to generate a plan for their orderly resignation from their LLC Manager roles.
