The August “Free Hawaii News” show features a full report on the Hawaiian National Soccer teamʻs recent competition in soccer matches in Aotearoa (New Zealand.)
“Nā `Ālapa Hawai`i, the Hawaiian National Soccer team represents the country of Hawai`i rather than the US state of Hawai`i. The flag they display during their matches is the Hawaiian Kingdom flag and the national anthem they sing is Hawai`i Ponoī, not the Star Spangled Banner,” states Free Hawaii News co-host Hinaleimoana Wong. “This is something that should make every Hawai`i National patriot very proud.”
We interview one of Nā `Ālapaʻs assistant coaches as well as a player on their wahine soccer team. Both reports from Aotearoa about their team accomplishments are amazing.”
“We also report on remarkable discoveries of official documents between the Swiss and Hawaiian Kingdom governments during the reign of Kauikeaouli or Kamehameha III during a recent visit to Swiss national archives in Bern, Switzerland. I show our viewers actual treaty and other original documents demonstrating the impact of the Hawaiian Kingdom around the world,” remarked Free Hawaii News co-host Leon Siu.
Our August show also details the latest efforts to protect Mauna Kea by opposing an extension of the TMT construction permit, Kumu Hinaʻs Mana`o, a regular Free Hawaii News feature which explains the many different meanings of the Hawaiian word lāhui and a report on the “Pacific Way,” a new movement gaining steam throughout Oceania.
