GLOBAL WARRIOR ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

This week we debut a brand new Voices Of Truth segment, “Global Warrior – A Visit With Mililani Trask.”

Mililani is head of one of three Native Hawaiian groups that recently filed a Shadow Report at the United Nations detailing on-going human rights violations against Native Hawaiians since the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom.

She also helped challenge Bush Administration claims that the United States has complied with its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), an international Human Rights Treaty, to which the U.S. is signatory.

Well, it’s one thing to say you’ve been wronged and another to get everybody to agree with you.

But wait ‘til you hear what we found out from Mililani on what all this means and exactly where it’s going.

We think you’ll be as excited as we are.

So be sure to pull up a chair and have a front row seat on the world stage this week on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

“The Truth About Federal Recognition – A Visit With David Ingham – Part Two”

We continue our visit in San Francisco with David Ingham, one of the world's foremost authorities on federal recognition.

David shares with us vital and startling information regarding how any passage of federal recognition will affect the people of Hawai`i.

David's depth of knowledge of both the immediate and long-range effects of this legislation is a real eye-opener and reminds us all to be maka'ala (vigilant) like never before.

Given that an attempt will be made once again to pass the "Akaka Bill" this year in the US Congress, this is a show that no one should miss.

Like the first, part two of this interview is packed with powerful and revealing information. Don’t miss it.

WEDNESDAY, May 17th At 6:30 PM - Maui - Akaku, Channel 53
“Faces Of The Nation – Voices Of Truth Live At `Iolani Palace – Part One”

"What will a Free Hawai`i look like?" is a question we hear a lot.

We found the answer at `Iolani Palace grounds in January when Native Hawaiians and their supporters gathered to spend the weekend showing everyone the Hawaiian Nation is still alive.

Voicing outrage at the continuing illegal occupation of Hawai`i by the U.S., the people there were nevertheless upbeat and optimistic.

We discovered specialists in every field of endeavor - people who will ably fill the needs of the Nation, who know our history and understand a Free Hawai`i benefits everyone.

And every single one of them we interviewed is actively engaged in creating a better future for Hawai`i and its people.

So be sure and gather your entire `ohana (family) and see for yourself the Hawai`i they describe - it's both amazing and exciting. Their message of hope and vision for the future is one you won't soon forget.

THURSDAY, May 18th At 8:30 PM & FRIDAY, May 19th At 8:30 AM - Kaua`i - Ho`ike, Channel 52
“Defiant Hawaiian – A Visit With Dr. Jon Kamakawiwo`ole Osorio”

Jon shares with us his own awakening as Kanaka Maoli, how it was passed down in his family, his becoming a professor of Hawaiian history and eventually head of Kamakakuokalani, the Center For Hawaiian Studies at the University of Hawai`i.

Jon also reveals background of what went into writing his groundbreaking book, "Dismembering Lahui - A History of the Hawaiian Nation to 1887," and how what occurred during that period in Hawai`i is repeating itself today in the push to extinguish Hawaiian rights through federal recognition.

This segment is a fascinating and inspiring story of one of the most accomplished Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) role models of our time. Don't miss it.

SATURDAY, May 20th At 8:00 PM - O`ahu - 'Olelo, Channel 53
“Global Warrior – A Visit With Mililani Trask”

Virtually everyone in Hawai`i has heard of Mililani Trask.

Most are familiar with her many years at the forefront of the self-determination struggle for the Hawaiian Nation.

But not everyone many know of her more recent work on the world stage to advance the cause of a Free Hawai`i.

With her frontline participation as part of the Pacific Caucus in the fifth annual Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at the UN in New York this week and next, we made an effort to catch up with Mililani recently at `Iolani Palace.

What she told us was both fascinating and exciting.

As head of Na Koa Ikaika O Ka Lahui Hawai`i, Mililani spends her time at the United Nations in New York City and Geneva, Switzerland, among other world capitals, to bring the international family of nations together to demand the U.S. own up to its complicity in what happened 113 years ago by ending human rights abuses against Native Hawaiians, and returning Hawai`i’s land and natural resources to their rightful owners.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to find out how other peoples of the world view the illegal overthrow and occupation of Hawai`i and what goes on at the highest levels of world diplomacy to make it right.

Voices of Truth interviews those creating a better future for Hawai`i to discover what made them go from armchair observers to active participants in the hopes of inspiring viewers to do the same.

Those not in Hawai`i wishing to view the series may do so by visiting www.olelo.org and then clicking "NAT-Channel 53." A screen should then display allowing you to see the show via live streaming.
