MAKING HAWAI`IʻS HOMES AFFORDABLE AGAIN ON “VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`IʻS FUTURE"

“Fixing Hawai`iʻs housing Crisis - A Visit With Peter Savio"

Many decades ago Singaporeʻs leaders arrived on an official visit to discover how Hawai`i had become so successful achieving a high rate of residential home ownership at very affordable prices. These officials were so impressed they took Hawai`iʻs model back home, replicated it and today Singapore is a very prosperous and wealthy nation. Yet today in Hawai`i homes are unaffordable, many Hawaiians and others have moved away and the ones still here are renters who work multiple jobs just to make ends meet. To find out why, we spent the day with real estate developer Peter Savio. Peter lost no time in explaining to us where Hawai`i went wrong and how it can be fixed. He should know because as Hawai`iʻs only affordable housing real estate developer his goal is to put Hawai`iʻs residents into home ownership. Donʻt miss our amazing visit with Peter as he explains how affordable housing can be built for Hawaiians and others, making residents financially independent instead of dependent - Watch It Here

THE SURF PROFESOR ON “VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`IʻS FUTURE"

“The Surf Professor - A Visit With Ian Masterson"

Ian Masterson could very well be the luckiest guy in the world. Thatʻs because Ian is a professor of surf at colleges on O`ahu where people come from all over outside of Hawai`i to take his classes. His students soon learn not only that surfing was a very serious seafaring tradition in ancient Hawai`i, but also the deep connection one must have to the specific location where you surf. Join us in our amazing visit with Ian and youʻll see how serious surfing is for him and the impact it has had on his life - Watch It Here

THE UNSTOPPABLE PEOPLE OF HAU`ULA ON “VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`IʻS FUTURE"

“The Unstoppable People Of Hau`ula - A Visit With Dotty Kelly-Paddock"

When a natural disaster occurs like a hurricane or tsunami, most people flee. But not those who live in Hau`ula on O`ahuʻs northeast shore. Naturally we wondered why, so we spent the day with Dotty Kelly-Paddock who runs the Hui O Hau`ula. Unlike so many today who lack ties to a specific place, Hau`ula residents have family roots there which go back many generations, so to say they call Hau`ula their home is a bit of an understatement. So how do they prepare for natural disasters which could wipe them out? Join us in our fascinating visit with Dotty and learn of their amazing plans as well as their steadfast determination to persevere in the place they love to call home - Watch It Here

RESTORING HAWAI`IʻS CORAL REEFS ON “VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`IʻS FUTURE"

“Restoring Hawai`iʻs Coral Reefs - A Visit With Alika Garcia"

For years, Alika Garcia was a fisherman on the ocean and during that time one thing kept bugging him. He realized that in fishing, he was taking from the ocean, but he was never giving anything back. And thatʻs how Kuleana Coral Restoration, a group of fishermen, surfers, and ocean advocates working to restore and protect Hawai`iʻs coral reefs, was born. As he told us, what happens to the fish in the ocean directly affects what happens to us. Join us in our visit along the beautiful west coast of O`ahu as he explains why the health of Hawai`iʻs reefs are connected to the health of our people - Watch It Here

KOKUA JUNKIES ON “VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`IʻS FUTURE"

“Kokua Junkies - A Visit With Rick Rutiz"

Kokua is the Hawaiian word meaning to help and no one turns more kids into kokua junkies, those who enjoy helping others, than Rick Rutiz who heads the non-profit Ma Ka Hana Ka `Ike in Hana, Maui. So much so in fact that he trained the students at Hana elementary and secondary school to construct all the classrooms themselves. As if that wasnʻt enough his students also go out into the community and build homes at no cost whatsoever for Hanaʻs elderly population. Join us in our visit with Rick as we tour the school campus and hear the story of this remarkable man and his students who love to help others - Watch It Here
