SHOW YOUR SUPERFERRY & AKAKA BILL OUTRAGE ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

Well there’s plenty happening this week on several fronts.

First, Maui Judge Joseph Cardoza will hear arguments this Wednesday from environmentalists on why the injunction he placed on the Superferry should not be lifted before an environmental impact statement is completed.

Naturally Superferry officials and the Linda Lingle administration are working overtime trying to get it lifted as quickly as they can regardless of the impact to the `aina (land,) the people of Hawai`i or marine life.

The only impact they’re considering is their pocketbooks.

Watch for a special announcement on Free Hawai`i TV late Tuesday on how you can watch the court proceedings live no matter where on earth you live.

Then on Thursday, the US Civil Rights Commission comes back into town to hold another hearing on the Akaka bill.

While the public will not be able to offer verbal testimony, it’s vitally important for everyone to attend to show your opposition to this bill – and remember to bring your anti-Akaka bill signs to hold up.

We’ll have all the where and when details up here on FreeHawaii.Info late Monday.

Finally we have a brand new Voices Of Truth show for you this week.

Last year we had Hinaleimoana Wong on Voices Of Truth and many viewers let us know how much you enjoyed our visit with her and even more of you asked when we’d have her back.

Well, we’ve got her for you this week and she brings us up to date on all the important work she’s been doing in two charters schools – one on O`ahu, the other on Kaua`i.

Intrigued? Well here’s a sample of our visit with her -

As you can see Hina’s not one to sit back and let things happen. She’s proactive in her approach, and that’s what we’re asking you to do this week too.

Get out there and let them know how you feel about the Superferry and the Akaka bill.

People in action towards a brighter future for Hawai`i . That’s what it’s all about this week, every week on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

“From The Atlantic To The Pacific – A Visit With Maurice Major”

Maurice “Mo” Major was born and raised very far from Hawai`i - on the Atlantic side of the North American continent in Virginia.

After graduating with a degree in anthropology, Mo and his college sweetheart began their married life in Hawai`i, the most remote location they could travel to without a passport, way out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Holding an archaeology permit from the State Historic Preservation Division, Mo specializes in research, stabilization and preservation of ancient Hawaiian sites.

His passion is the stunning beauty of remote and historically significant Nu`alolo Kai valley on the Na Pali coast of Kaua`i and his real gift is making the ancient past of Nu`alolo Kai come alive right before your eyes.

Mo’s been involved with Nu`alolo Kai archaeological work and Na Pali Coast `Ohana since 1996, and is primary author of both the archaeological inventory report and preservation plan for this amazing site.

Even when family obligations required Mo’s return to the family homestead in Virginia, he continued volunteering with Na Pali Coast `Ohana - collaborating by internet on short and long-term strategies, plans and reports.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to go back in time to the days of ancient Hawai`i, don’t miss our incredible visit with Mo as we travel with him into Na Pali Coast Park, a breathtaking wilderness area on the north shore of the island of Kaua`i, along 12 miles of undeveloped shoreline. It’s a trip you’ll never forget.

THURSDAY, November 15th At 8:30 PM & FRIDAY, November 16th At 8:30 AM Kaua`i – Ho`ike, Channel 52
“Out Of The Box – A Visit With Hinaleimoana Wong”

Since she was last on Voices Of Truth Hina Wong has been, well, busy.

An educator at two charter schools in Hawai`i, Hina delivers the kind of education students crave – and can get virtually nowhere else.

“You don’t have to go far from home to be successful,” is the message she gives her students at Halau Lokahi charter school on O`ahu and another one on the island of Kaua`i.

Teaching Hawaiian cultural values, she helps her students answer the question, who are we as Hawaiians?

Yet don’t for a minute think it’s only native Hawaiians, as students of all ethnicities attend because, as Hina reminds us, her schools mirror the multicultural population of the independent Hawaiian nation before it was illegally overthrown.

The impact her curriculum has had on her students is both profound and lasting. For the first time they see they don’t have to assimilate to be successful.

Bring your entire `ohana together and watch our visit with Hina as she reminds us the children of Hawai`i really don’t have to go and live somewhere else to make it economically. As she herself says, “we want our people to live and thrive right here.”

Voices Of Truth interviews those creating a better future for Hawai`i to discover what made them go from armchair observers to active participants in the hopes of inspiring viewers to do the same.
