MORE BAD NEWS FOR SUPERFERRY
Rough Seas Cause Test Delay
By Associated Press
HONOLULU (AP) - The Hawai`i Superferry won't be sailing to Maui Tuesday for a test run.
Officials blame rough seas for causing problems at Kahului harbor. The plan for a test run is postponed until Wednesday.
But spokesman Lori Abe says the return of regular Superferry runs between Maui and Honolulu is still set for Thursday.
Waves from 20 to 30 feet have been slamming against the breakwater at Maui's port, causing some lines to break that secure the ferry barge.
Superferry officials say, however, the problems would not have caused the ferry to use the harbor if it had been making regular runs.
There's no schedule yet for a resumption of service to Kaua`i, where protesters stopped the last ferry in August.
