TASER GUNS NEXT STEP ON KAUA`I PROTESTERS?
Unconfirmed Reports Say Kaua`i Police Ready To Escalate Standoff
Naue, Kaua`i – Protesters have heard unconfirmed reports that Kaua`i police are now considering the use of taser guns to break up the all-day stand-off between them and law enforcement officials at the Naue burial site.
“Wouldn’t using taser guns on peaceful protestors be a violation of the use of “force continuum?” asked protester Andre Perez of Pohaku O Kane. “This would no doubt incur a major liability for Kaua`i police by the use of this kind of force.”
The protesters, who range in age, have been occupying the Joseph Brescia property throughout the day to stop further construction over a well-documented ancient Hawaiian cemetery containing the remains of at least thirty individuals.
“We do have people here who have had heart attacks and other health problems and our concern is their survival should Kaua`i police use this potentially lethal type of force,” remarked Perez.
Kaua`i residents who have arrived at the scene are also expressing concern for the protester’s well being.
