HAWAI`I A VOICE FOR SOVEREGNTY WINS
“BEST GLOBAL DOCUMENTARY FILM CREATING CHANGE”

HOLLYWOOD — Hawai`i A Voice For Sovereignty has received yet another distinguished award.

The “Best Global Documentary Film Creating Change” was presented on July 30, 2014, by the Pacific Talent Film Festival at the Toyota Museum in Torrance, California.

“It is an honor to be able to share Hawai`i A Voice For Sovereignty with the world and the journey of the people of Hawai`i," says Producer-Director Catherine Bauknight.

The Hawaiian’s struggle to protect the land and the people of the land continues as the US Department of Interior is now proposing that Native Hawaiians be recognized as a Native American tribe.

In June, 2014, an overwhelming percentage of native Hawaiians testified against the proposed rule during hearings conducted throughout the islands.

After the film’s historic premier at the US Capitol Building in Washington, DC, Hawai`i A Voice For Sovereignty has received seven other distinguished awards during film festivals in Hawai`i, New York City, Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New Zealand.

Hawai`i A Voice For Sovereignty continues its voyage around the world including screenings at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York City, the Pigorini National Museum of History and Ethnography in Rome, and in smaller venues throughout the US and Canada.
