FURTHER RECENT ATTEMPTS TO FORCE US FEDERAL RECOGNITION ON HAWAIIANS

Please forward this to all Hawaiians and our supporters.

It has recently come to our attention that representatives of the Council For Native Hawaiian Advancement, (CNHA) the Sovereign Councils of the Hawaiian Homelands Assembly (SCHHA) and the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs (AOHCC) met with the OHA trustees.

At the meeting the CNHA, SCHHA and AOHCC proposed that they, as a consortium, take over the education and nation building aspects of federal recognition.

Simply put, they want to take OHAʻs federal recognition initiative, “Ho`oulu Lahui Aloha” and implement it.

During the meeting, Michelle Kauhane of the CNHA, Kamaki Kanahele of the SCHHA and Soulee Stroud of the AOHCC informed the OHA trustees they are prepared to go forward and requested funding from OHA to do so.

Specifically, Kamaki Kanahele boldly told the OHA trustees he represents all DHHL homesteaders.

The truth of course is the SCHHA represent only 20% of all DHHL homesteaders and in the past year many homestead associations have dropped out of the SCHHA due to its support of federal recognition for Hawaiians.

Soulee Stroud claimed that his AOHCC can take the lead across the US. He also stated the majority of civic clubs support federal recognition, when the truth is many clubs no longer support the AOHCC endorsement.

The OHA trustees voted 5 to 4 on the proposal.

For it to pass, the vote would need to be 6 to 3.

Because the OHA trustees are notorious for secret back room dealings to get votes changed, it is critically important for everyone to let the trustees know that you are aware of this scheme.

Please contact the OHA trustees and insist they not approve any plan, now or in the future, to fund or allow the CNHA, SCHHA or AOHCC to implement education and nation building  for federal recognition.

Remind them that trustee elections are coming up in November and again in 2016.
