HELP REPEAL THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN ROLL & ACT 195
Please forward this to every Hawaiian and our supporters.
It appears there may be an opportunity to repeal Act 195 and Kana`iolowalu and we ask for your kokua in making this happen.
Former Hawai`i state legislator and now newly elected OHA trustee Lei Ahu Isa has published an article in the January 2015 issue of Ka Wai Ola calling for the repeal of Act 195 and the abolishment of Kana`iolowalu, the Native Hawaiian Roll.
You may read her article here - http://TinyURL.com/LeiAhuIsa
She correctly points out that OHA has wasted many millions of Hawaiian beneficiary dollars on both the US federal Akaka bill and its state of Hawai`i version successor, Kana`iolowalu.
She also points out that OHA has been using “stone age” methods that are more costly than software and smart phone apps that exist today.
She states, “the Digital Age can help enroll our Native Hawaiian people without spending so much money…$$Millions on gathering signatures, only to have them stored away.. like the Kau Inoa roll call! EFFICIENCY must happen at OHA so we can use the Native Hawaiian Trust Fund to HELP our people."
Trustee Ahu Isa recognizes one other very important fact - that ”any accepted path forward must rise from the Hawaiian community, and the state and [US] federal government have no business trying to organize it or control it.”
Please contact OHA trustee Lei Ahu Isa today and let her know you support her effort to repeal Act 195 and Kana`iolowalu.
Ask trustee Ahu Isa to help initiate the introduction of a bill in the Hawai`i legislature to repeal Act 195.
Email her at alvina@oha.org who is her assistant and will be compiling the emails or call the Office of Hawaiian Affairs in Honolulu at (808) 594-1888.
