We are happy to report that SB 2816, the proposed legislation that would have targeted Mauna Kea protectors among others for criminal trespass is now dead.

The bill was “recommitted” or rejected by the legislature due to your overwhelming opposition.

Because all of you raised your voices in united opposition against this travesty, Hawai`iʻs lawmakers have backed down.

Mahalo to each and every one of you who took the time to contact them and express your outrage.

ALERT! - SB 2816 STILL ALIVE - HELP STOP THE MAUNA KEA CRIMINAL TRESPASS BILL TOMORROW MORNING

We are aware that there are rumors circulating online that SB2816 is now dead.

That is NOT the case.

We spoke with Hawai`i state senator Ron Kouchiʻs office by phone and they assured us the vote will go forward tomorrow morning.

Therefore, we ask everyone to be at the state capitol tomorrow morning, Tuesday May 3rd at 9 AM to express your opposition in person to SB 2816, the Mauna Kea Criminal Trespass bill.

Here is why itʻs so important for everyone to show up en masse to defeat this bill.

If SB 2816 passes, it would become a law to prosecute Mauna Kea protectors as well as all Aloha `Aina warriors everywhere who seek to protect Hawai`iʻs land, natural resources and wahi pana (sacred places.)

If the thirty meter telescope is ever to be built atop Mauna Kea, those running the illegal US occupation in Hawai`i need a law like this to use against all who show up to challenge the fake stateʻs mechanisms and even the fake stateʻs legitimacy itself.

The law from SB 2816 could even be applied to criminalize and arrest those who oppose Na`i Aupuni and the forced imposition of US federal recognition in Hawai`i.

We hope you understand the gravity and seriousness of SB 2816 should it be allowed to become law.

ALERT! - MAUNA KEA TRESPASS BILL TO BE VOTED ON TUESDAY MORNING

Mahalo piha, full thanks, to everyone who showed up in person at the last minute yesterday at the Hawai`i state senate or helped spread the word online about SB 2816, the stateʻs sneaky attempt to pass legislation which would place new legal restrictions on Mauna Kea protectors.

Because of your kokua, the Hawai`i state senate did not vote on SB2816 yesterday as planned, but instead delayed the vote to this Tuesday morning, May 3rd at 9 AM.

Their cover has now been blown.

State legislators are now having second thoughts and becoming squeamish about rushing this bill through the senate now that they know you are watching their actions.

It is imperative that large amounts of public pressure be placed on them from now until Tuesday so that they will not vote in favor of SB 2816.

Therefore we ask everyone who can to be at the state capitol this coming Tuesday morning at 9 AM to express your opposition in person to this outrageous legislation.

We have received word from highly reliable sources that the Hawai`i state attorney general and the governorʻs office are both putting a full-court press on the Hawai`i state senate to pass SB 2816.

SB 2816 allegedly has to do with trespassing and the houseless in Hawai`i.

Highly reliable sources have informed us that this bill is instead about the state creating new legal restrictions on Mauna Kea protectors.
 
Simply put, SB 2816 is a criminal trespass on state lands bill.

We realize this is very short notice, but your kokua is urgently needed right now to defeat this bill.

SB 2816 will be heard TODAY, April 29th at 6:30 PM (HST) in the Hawai`i state senate. It will be the final reading of the bill and the floor vote will then occur.
