TONIGHT - DONʻT MISS THE NOVEMBER FREE HAWAII NEWS

Celebrating Hawaii Independence Day, Plus Kapaemāhū, “The Wind & The Reckoning” & Non-Violent Direct Action

The November “Free Hawaii News” show airing tonight, November 4th at 6 PM on `Olelo Television Channel 53 on O`ahu will feature a special report on Lā Ku`oko`a or Hawaii Independence Day and little-known facts of Hawaiian diplomats who traveled in 1843 to meet with heads of state in the United States, Great Britain and France which resulted in a treaty between those countries recognizing Hawaii as a sovereign nation, the first ever non-European country to be recognized as such.

“This is the true story of how tiny Hawaii was recognized as a sovereign country by the rest of the world almost 180 years ago and the Hawaiian patriots who put their lives at risk to accomplish it, one of the most significant chapters in Hawaiiʻs history that very few actually know about,” said Free Hawaii News co-host Leon Siu.

“We also cover the recent Kapaemāhū exhibit at the Bishop Museum and what it means to be māhū in the Hawaiian culture, “The Wind & The Reckoning,” a newly released award-winning full length feature film about the Ko`olau rebellion in Hawaii, and also a fascinating report on why non-violent direct action trainings are gaining momentum here at home,” remarked Free Hawaii News co-host Hinaleimoana Wong.

Brought to you by the Koani Foundation, Free Hawaii News airs the first Friday evening of every month on channel 53 of `Ōlelo Television on O`ahu at 6 PM.
