Plus We Interview Stars Of “The Wind & The Reckoning,” Kapaemāhū Goes To Kaua`i & Latest News Of The Red Hill Disaster

The December “Free Hawaii News” show airing tonight, December 2nd at 6 PM on `Olelo Television Channel 53 on O`ahu will feature a special report on whether proposed consultations between Hawaiians and the US Department of Interior would be beneficial or another trap that could lead to US Federal Recognition whereby Hawaiians could be reclassified as a US Indian tribe.

“We wanted the straight truth rather than rumors that have been swirling around so we interviewed the one person who knows the facts and has the answer - long time sovereignty activist and current Office of Hawaiian Affairs Trustee Mililani Trask,” stated Free Hawaii News co-host Leon Siu.

“We also interview the stars of ʻThe Wind And The Reckoningʻ a newly released award-winning full-length feature film about the Ko`olau rebellion in Hawaii, we reveal the latest developments surrounding the Red Hill water contamination fiasco, and I report on assignment from Kaua`i about training teachers regarding the significance of the Kapaemāhū  healing stones in Waikiki,” remarked co-host Hinaleimoana Wong.

Brought to you by the Koani Foundation, Free Hawaii News airs the first Friday evening of every month on channel 53 of `Ōlelo Television on O`ahu at 6 PM.

The purpose of the show is to present Hawaiian or kanaka maoli perspectives on a broad range of topics and issues affecting the Hawaiian Islands, the Pacific and the world. The hosts of “Free Hawaii News” are Hinaleimoana Wong and Leon Kaulahao Siu.

Hinaleimoana Wong is a kumu hula, filmmaker, cultural activist, Hawaiian language speaker, preservationist and community leader. She has served as a member of the O`ahu Island Burial Council.

Leon Siu has for many years served as Foreign Minister of the Hawaiian Kingdom. He is active in that role at the United Nations in both New York City and Geneva, Switzerland. Besides being a diplomat, he is also an award-winning musician, composer and political analyst.
