FREE HAWAII NEWS - MISSING & MURDERED HAWAIIAN WOMEN & GIRLS

The February “Free Hawaii News” features a special report on missing and murdered Hawaiian women and children.

“Missing and murdered Hawaiian women and children is one of Hawaiiʻs most significant and pressing ongoing issues we have and yet it has only come to the forefront of attention now,” states Free Hawaii News co-host Leon Siu. “We need to address this issue and get it solved before one more kanaka maoli wife, daughter or child goes missing or murdered.”

Also Free Hawaii News co-host Hinaleimoana Wong, reports from the Royal Mausoleum at Mauna`ala on Princess Abigail Kawananakoaʻs private funeral. “It was a remarkable and historic event,” remarked co-host Hinaleimoana Wong. “We saw history happen before our very eyes.”

Then we cover a resolution to be introduced in Hawaiiʻs legislature to protect Hawaiian Nationals in Hawaii, and report on progress for Hawai`i at the United Nations.

Brought to you by the Koani Foundation, Free Hawaii News airs on channel 53 of `Ōlelo Television on O`ahu and also on all neighbor island television stations. Check local listings for times.

The purpose of the show is to present Hawaiian or kanaka maoli perspectives on a broad range of topics and issues affecting the Hawaiian Islands, the Pacific and the world. The hosts of “Free Hawaii News” are Hinaleimoana Wong and Leon Kaulahao Siu.
