Also Find Out Why Oceania Wants To Bring Hawaii Back Into The Fold, Then Can Hawaii Ride A Wave Of Freedom At The United Nations Making A Free Hawaii Easier Than You Think, Plus What The Cook Islands Can Teach Hawaii About Tourism & Our Popular Kumu Hinaʻs Mana`o

The May 2025 “Free Hawaii News” debuting this Friday night, May 2nd
airs at our new time of 7 PM on `Olelo Television Channel 53 on O`ahu and also at FreeHawaiiNews.com

“The highest kuleana or responsibility that Hawaiians have is to mālama or care for iwi kupuna or the buried bones of their ancestors. As Hawaiians it is an essential connection to the `aina or land and to who they are. Thatʻs why the recent court ruling which states that the state of Hawaii mishandled its archeological process which failed to protect iwi kupuna is being hailed as a long overdue victory by lineal descendants,” states Free Hawaii News co-host Hinaleimoana Wong.

“Also in our May show we interview Hawaiian activist Pōkā Laenui in an eye-opening discussion about why achieving a Free Hawaii may be easier than a lot of people think. With the upheavals that the Trump administration has caused in the US, many are now realizing that itʻs a wake-up call on how we need to prepare for an independent Hawaii,” remarked Free Hawaii News co-host Leon Siu.

Leon Siu also reports on how Hawaii could ride a wave of freedom at the United Nations, what the Cook Islands can teach Hawaii about tourism and we also have a brand new segment of our popular Kumu Hinaʻs mana`o.

Free Hawaii News presents Hawaiian or kanaka maoli perspectives on a broad range of issues and topics affecting the Hawaiian Islands, the Pacific and the world.

Brought to you by the Koani Foundation, Free Hawaii News airs every month on `Ōlelo Television on O`ahu, on all neighbor islands and on stations around the world as well as online on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, X, BlueSky and over thirty different Facebook pages and other online sites.
