On a beautiful late afternoon we met with Brittany Kamai, a Hawaiian astrophysicist, for a walk along the beach. She shocked us right away by telling us that if the ocean dies, we die. She also reminded us that our oceans replenish half of the worldʻs oxygen and they are now calling for our help to stop deep sea mining which would disturb the oceanʻs ability to supply that oxygen.
