WHAT DOES THE FUTURE OF HAWAI`I LOOK LIKE ?
Federal Recognition is not the answer, so what is?
Can the United States really help us create a bright future for the Hawaiian Nation? What solutions will benefit all residents of Hawai`i?
Hawaiians want and deserve freedom just as much as US citizens do.
Some say, “the illegal act of war that overthrew your Queen can’t be erased . . . like it or not, you’re all Americans now.”
But, every day we see people around the world fighting for, and winning back their native and national rights. Their quest, and ours are totally legitimate and very real.
Like everyone else, Hawaiians want four basic things –
FREEDOM – The freedom to decide their own future for themselves. That “freedom” was taken away when the sovereign Nation of Hawai`i was overthrown in 1893. It was taken away again by illegal annexation to the United States in 1898. And, it was taken away a third time by the so-called statehood vote in 1959.
According to international law, a new vote must to be taken that offers three options – 1) Independence, or 2) Free-Association or 3) Integration (nation within a nation.)
RIGHTS – The rights of the independent Nation of Hawai`i were never relinquished. The destruction and denial of these rights must cease. Everyone who descends from citizens of the Hawaiian Nation prior to 1893, Native Hawaiians and all others, are entitled to these rights.
IDENTITY – The political identity of Hawaiians must be acknowledged by the United States. Hawaiians will decide their own future, without interference by the US. Also, only those with any measure of indigenous blood may define Native Hawaiians. A blood quantum imposed by others is an unacceptable means to divide and conquer.
LAND BASE - Hawaiians love their country and lands just as much as US citizens love the US. Hawaiians want ALL their land back, not just some of it.

A continuing mahalo nui to all who have expressed appreciation for our current segments with Manu Meyer, Andre Perez and Liko Martin.
Three Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians) on the front lines making a difference every day of their lives.
Some may remark, “yeah, and they’ve got plenty of talent, too.”
And yet all three reveal in their interviews a period of doubt within themselves causing them to ask “am I good enough to step out and do this?”
Of course, the answer was a resounding yes. But they never knew until they tried.
So we ask, what about you?
What skills or talents could you contribute towards a Free Hawai`i?
By now, it should be evident that everyone has something. There is no skill or ability too small or unimportant.
Like Manu, Andre and Liko, start right where you are within your own `ohana (family) and community, give it a try and see what happens.
Next up, we’ll have a brand new Voices Of Truth segment with someone who makes the most of whatever she has – right on the beach - stay tuned.
And just around the corner, the debut FreeHawaiiTV, where 24/7 you can view online Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.
NEW PROGRAMMING CHANGE NOTES - Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future is now seen on Maui on Akaku, Channel 53 on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM and Wednesday mornings at 6:30 AM and across Hawai`i Island now on Channel 53, Na Leo at our regularly scheduled days and times.
MONDAY, February 26th At 7:00 PM & FRIDAY, March 2nd At 5:30 PM – Hawai`i Island – Na Leo, Channel 53
THURSDAY, March 1st At 8:30 PM & FRIDAY, March 2nd At 8:30 AM – Kaua`i – Ho`ike, Channel 52
“Songs For Our Soul – A Visit With Liko Martin”
Hawai`i has a lot of singers and songwriters, but none more talented than Liko Martin.
We’ve been trying to get Liko to join us on the show for quite a while and it was definitely worth the wait.
Liko is a musician’s musician – his talents and abilities are up there with the best the world over.
He tells us details of his just finished sessions in a recording studio in Oakland, California with “A list” performers, and even about a Hawaiian opera he’s currently writing!
Perhaps best known for his “Hawai`i Loa Ku Like Kakou, All Hawai`i Stand Together,” Liko has seen and done it all – from Hollywood to Hawai`i, and for the first time reveals what the journey has been like and taught him.
Here’s your opportunity to catch one of Hawai`i’s most unique and treasured talents as he talks about his life, his music, how it comes to him, the role model that inspired it all and how he went from living in a car on the streets of Los Angeles to being one of Hawai`i’s premier musicians today.
TUESDAY, February 27th At 6:30 PM & WEDNESDAY, February 28th At 6:30 AM – Maui – Akaku, Channel 53
“Even They Can See It – A Visit With Maui Solomon & Rebecca Tsosie”
Maui Solomon, a Maori from Aotearoa (New Zealand,) and Rebecca Tsosie, a member of the Yaqui tribe from southern Arizona, come from two different worlds geographically apart.
Yet, they have much in common.
Successful attorneys, both Maui and Rebecca focus their legal practice in helping to protect their own native people.
And both have seen the devastating effects of federal recognition in their own lands.
“Don’t let it happen here,” is the message they brought to us loud and clear.
By describing what did happen to their people after federal recognition, we have an opportunity to see both the “before and after” picture. And it’s one they tell us it’s a mistake we don’t ever want to make.
You’ll be as hooked as we were as they describe the very same slick arguments and false promises their own politicians put forth to sell federal recognition as those we’ve heard in Hawai`i. And you'll be equally as disgusted when you hear the results. Compelling as they are convincing, their message is one all of us need to hear.
SATURDAY, March 3rd At 8:00 PM – O`ahu - ‘Olelo, Channel 53
“Aloha Is Our Intelligence – A Visit With Manu Aluli Meyer”
“If knowledge is power, then understanding is liberation.”
Manu Myer is not your average educator - or human being for that matter.
Growing up as someone who was much better in the school yard than with school books, Manu quickly developed what few of her teacher’s saw – an incredible intellect and capacity for motivating others.
Today, Manu is in a class all by herself – as comfortable with Hawaiian epistemology and quantum physics as she is with her own ukulele.
Having just returned from a year in Aotearoa (New Zealand) packed with incredible adventures and experiences, she reveals not only what she learned, but why the people and `aina (land) of that placed have so deeply affected her.
Be sure and sit your entire `ohana down and hear Manu as she reveals what quantum physics and indigenous culture have in common, as well as her vision of a Free Hawai`i few of us have ever imagined. We promise this is one Hawai`i Maoli wahine you’ll remember for a long time to come.
Voices Of Truth interviews those creating a better future for Hawai`i to discover what made them go from armchair observers to active participants in the hopes of inspiring viewers to do the same.

An Independent Hawai`i is a sovereign state with dominion, the right to join the UN, and fly it's own flag.
More important, independent states have a well-defined set of rights under constitutional law, such as the right not to be invaded and belligerently occupied.
On the other hand, under federal recognition, Hawai`i would become an insular enclave of the US - meaning that international law could not prohibit the US commencing aggression and total extermination of its indigenous Hawaiian population.
Under the Akaka bill, native recognition is conditional only after extinguishment of Hawaiian Kingdom Citizenship political status, (your right to exist,) and vested alodial title and laws.
US law would not grant full autonomous self-rule and would in fact destroy territorial integrity which continues to exist right now, even as you read these words.
So why reject "native recognition" for Independence?
Independence is a formal recognition of Hawai`i's territory and laws. It's subjects are not under US jurisdiction.
Hawai`i still has its own bill of rights, constitution and comprehensive complied laws.
Only by the assertion of our Dominion and Hawai`i Territorial Authority can we protect our beloved homeland with international support.

More Than Just Native Hawaiians Support A Free Hawai`i
In 1843, Hawai`i was a recognized independent nation.
This external sovereignty recognition put Hawai`i in peerage with the US and Europe's world powers in the Family of Nations.
Eventually, Hawai`i acquired treaties from 25 world nations and had 96 legates and consuls throughout the world.
US covert and overt activities led to the 1893 invasion of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the US immediately recognized its complicitors proclamation without the people's knowledge.
Using that backing, they created the bogus "Republic of Hawai`i" against the people's wishes.
All legal attempts to annex Hawai`i to the US failed because the citizens of the Hawaiian Nation then overwhelmly protested and sent their anti-annexation petitions to Washington D.C.
In covering up the hoax, Congress was forced to pass the Newlands Resolution declaring that the majority wished for the annexation of Hawai`i without a lawful treaty.
That's how Hawai`i became unlawfully annexed.
Throughout the US belligerent occupation, our dissent and protests have been suppressed and muted from the US citizens and a revised history has been taught.
Our nation, which was a multi-ethnic country with 16% of its subjects being of non-Native Hawaiian foreign origins, still legally exists according to US and international law even though currently under US occupation.

WELCOME IF YOU'RE VISITING FREEHAWAII.INFO FOR THE FIRST TIME!
Free Hawai`i means returning the Hawaiian Islands back to an independent nation status, as it was before it was illegally overthrown by US marines and rich sugar barons in 1893.
In 1993, President Clinton formally apologized for that act and publicly acknowledged the illegality of the overthrow.
DID YOU KNOW -
98% of all Hawaiians living at the time opposed the illegal overthrow!
Today, less than 20% of all land in Hawai`i is in Hawaiian hands.
Over 60% today is in non-Hawaiian hands!
A few individuals, who are non-Hawaiian, lease an amount of land in Hawai`i that is greater than all land leased to all Native Hawaiians!
Currently, only 72 landowners control 95% of all land in Hawai`i.
Native Hawaiians make up the largest percentage of homeless in Hawai`i today.
Native Hawaiians have the worst social, educational and economic indicators compared to any ethnic group in the US.
Native Hawaiians currently have the worst health profile compared to any ethnic group in the US.
Descendants of the Hawaiian Nation want their country and land back so they can grow their own foods, become healthy once again, and control their own destiny.

Many of you have contacted us asking where you can find the latest information and news regarding a Free Hawai`i.
“We know the Office of Hawaiian Affair's not giving us the truth, so who is?” is something we hear a lot.
Because of the sometimes rapid changes in Hawai`i, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC and on the Internet itself, the Koani Foundation now broadcasts weekly commentaries and news updates right here on our blog, http://www.FreeHawaii.Info
You can also view them at http://www.youtube.com/FreeHawaiiTV
Here you’ll find the latest developments on federal recognition, the illegal US occupation, and other issues that affect you and your `ohana (family.)

In May, we’ll be posting video reports daily from the Permanent Forum On Indigenous Issues at the United Nations in New York City.
Knowledge, as they say, is power.
Our commitment is to bring you that knowledge as quickly and completely as we can.
To empower you to be able to make a difference right where you are – by contacting your legislators, showing your support at a hearing or simply telling a friend.
After all, who do you want to be the decision maker about your family’s future – bureaucrats in a far off foreign land or you?
Shouldn’t the people whose future is affected be the ones who decide it? That’s how we see it here on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

“A Journey Of Occupation – A Visit With Andre Perez”
What would it be like to be in the US military for eight years, then find yourself living on the streets?
That’s what happened to Andre Perez who went from one extreme to another.
And from the streets, he found his way into the Kaho`olawe occupation, which, by his own accounts, was a life-changing experience.
It had to be because Andre’s never at a loss for words when it comes to defending his people that led him to the next chapter of his life.
Currently the spokesperson for Hui Pu, as well as a Halau Lokahi teacher, Andre recently found himself in the middle of yet another occupation – the dramatic taking of `Iolani Palace last year by Hui Pu to publicly oppose the Akaka bill.
As we look to the future of Hawai`i, we’re sure you’ll agree with us that Andre and others like him will play a prominent role in it.
Don’t miss our visit with Andre who’s part of the new generation of warriors who are as fearless as they are articulate. You’ll see why he’s a role model for the `opio (youth) of today as well as a leader for tomorrow.

Akaka Says Next Generation Wants A Free Hawai`i
Hawai`i Sen. Daniel K. Akaka warned fellow senators that failure to adopt his bill to grant Native Hawaiians federal recognition could lead to a "divided Hawai`i," with "many young Hawaiians wanting the islands to become a separate nation."

USA Ignores International Laws & Treaties
Simply put, this means a restoration of our powers through deoccupation by the US of Hawai`i.
The Akaka bill, federal recognition, or nation within a nation is not an option since it's an illusion which does not accurately define a nation.
Therefore it lacks legal basis to create such a domestic entity.
One cannot shove the baby back into a mother's womb once it is born.
The only way the US can have the baby is through an adoption process from a willing mother, but Hawai`i never gave the US permission to take it over.
Thus, the only option is the restoration of Hawai`i's Independence once the US deoccupies our nation-state and Hawai`i takes it place once again in the international arena.
This is not a begging for recognition; this is demanding that redress takes place as justice served.
After all, the only reason the US coveted the Hawaiian Kingdom in the first place was for its naval expansion and dominance in the Pacific and Hawai`i as an expendable outpost to protect its Western Coast.
The only logical recourse is deoccupation and restoring the external sovereignty of the Hawaiian Nation.

Does This Sound Familiar?
The Anti-Annexation Ku'e Petitions, which proved Hawai`i's citizens did not wish to become part of the US had been suppressed for many years and ignored.
It was the will of the people and they spoke loud and clear.
Yet, the covert and overt activities of the US in Hawai`i are well documented and obvious.
Other than the Apology bill of 1993, the US will not dabble in answering anything having to do with an overthrow of Hawai`i's monarch and government.
Their idea of making things right is to classify Hawaiians as tribes and put then all on "reservations" throughout Hawai`i.
Who would actually believe Hawaiians are indians?
The fact is the Hawaiian Kingdom was and still is today a neutral state thus obligated to follow the rules of neutrality, which the Hawaiian Kingdom participated in formulating over a century ago.
The US is obligated to honor those international laws of neutrality.
Hawai`i's status of neutrality has always been equal to that of Switzerland.
The language of annexation and statehood are ruses to hide and confuse what really happened.

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU ?
Let's pretend I visit your house. You offer me food and rest.
I decide to stay.
Then, I order you and your family around, use your things and rearrange the rooms.
I take down your photos and religious symbols, replace them with my own and make you speak my language.
One day, I dig up your garden and replace it with crops that I can sell.
You and your family must now buy all of your food from me.
Later, I invite my father and his buddies over. They bring guns.
We take your keys. I forge a deed and declare my father to be the owner of your house.
I bring more people. Some work for me. Some pay me to stay in your house.
I seize your savings and spend it on my friends.
You and your family now sleep on the porch.
Finally you protest.
Being reasonable, I let you stay in a corner of the house and give you a small allowance, but only if you behave.
I tell you, "Sorry, I was wrong for taking the house."
But when you demand your house back, I tell you to be realistic. "You are part of this family now, whether you like it or not,"
I say.
"Besides, this is for your own good. For all that I have done for you, why aren't you grateful?"
Do You See Why Hawaiians Want Their Independence Back And Nothing Less?
Monday, February 12, 2007
Hawai`i is an occupied country and the lands in question are stolen lands.
Sovereignty activists appear to have international law on their side.
Here's why - for its part, the United States government has already admitted to the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Nation, by issuing a formal apology by joint resolution of Congress in November of 1993 in acknowledgment of the 100th anniversary of the coup that dethroned Queen Lili`uokalani.
Although the United States was the first nation to formally recognize the sovereignty of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1842, it was the U.S. Navy that provided the force that enabled American business interests to dethrone the Queen in January of 1893.
In recent years, experts in international law have called into question the legitimacy of "statehood" and American military occupation of Hawaiian lands by pointing out that there is no known record of the Hawaiian Kingdom ever relinquishing its sovereignty.
Sunday, February 11, 2007
On Friday the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against a group of taxpayers in Hawai`i who claim the so-called “state” unconstitutionally discriminates against non-Hawaiians by giving money to programs that only benefit Hawaiians.
While those who brought the suit plan to appeal, we see courts upholding funding for Native Hawaiians and their programs once again.
And while we must always remember that it’s the occupiers courts that render these decisions, it does expose one, very important fact.
We don’t need the Akaka bill.
Proponents of federal recognition will try to get you to believe that without the Akaka bill, Native Hawaiians and funding for Native Hawaiian programs are at grave risk.
As we can see once again, nothing is further from the truth.
The real purpose of the Akaka bill is not to protect you, it’s to legitimize and seal forever the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom over a century ago and perfect or legalize land title in Hawai`i into the hands of the thieves and end any legal recourse by the wronged - you.
Memorize the above sentence and repeat it to everyone you know and meet - spreading the truth is indeed the key for a Free Hawai`i.
This week we have three individuals who have taken the time to educate themselves and now let others know the dangers of federal recognition.
Don’t miss Rebecca Tsosie of Arizona, Maui Solomon from Aotearoa and our own Andre Perez with their important and timely messages this week on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

"WHY IS INDEPENDENCE BETTER FOR HAWAI'I THAN FEDERAL RECOGNITION?" TELL THEM THIS -
Federal recognition (Akaka bill) is yesterday's solution.
It's thesis is again going hat in hand to the US federal government for help and turning Hawaiians inward and against each other in their own land.
For more than 100 years, this has not worked.
Instead, we can seize the opportunity to create a dynamic new nation through which we can maintain our culture and values, have more control over our future and be a leader among the pacific nations.
Let This Be Our Legacy To Future Generations.

Hawaiian groups are opposed to the Akaka bill because they feel it does not go far enough in providing reparations.
The fact that the Civil Rights Commission last year voted the way it did on the Akaka bill is an indication that we need to move from talking about our civil rights, which is a very limited way of talking about the issue, to human rights.
We need human rights, not bogus U.S. "civil rights."

Here Is What They Say About Themselves, Their Countrymen And The United States -
"The most common sense thing is for total independence.
We were a progressive modern nation of our time and recognized as a friendly, neutral nation within the Family of Nations, the predecessor of the League of Nations and the United Nations.
We had a democratic form of government, a constitutional monarchy with a bicameral legislative assembly.
The works and legacies of our monarchs are legendary and noteworthy.
Today under the American system, we are concerned about our lands, culture, people and lifestyle which has been under attack for over a hundred years.
This gets us angry as more Hawaiians desire total independence as a result.
The Kingdom of Hawai`i is not only Native Hawaiians but subjects of non-Hawaiian blood who were legitimate subjects of the Kingdom.
This racial argument is an American thing and not a Hawaiian thing.
So our concerns are well within our scope to protect all our subjects of the Kingdom.
We do expect reparations and restitution from the US for the injurious damages to our nation, land and people.
The US government is well aware of this and is attempting a piecemeal settlement.
If the tables were turned around; which would you do? I'm sure it wouldn't be a hard decision.
Remember, Hawaiians never hated Americans; but only those that did harm to us and the US government for its complicity and deceit.
We were never afraid that another country would take us over; we had over twenty-four treaties with various countries but the US is the only country that broke their treaties with us."
That should tell you something.
Monday, February 05, 2007
The hoax and myth promulgated by the US for over 113 years is fully exposed by the mainstream media through the publication last year of Stephen Kinzer's book, "Overthrow - America's Century Of Regime Change From Hawai`i To Iraq."
Covert and overt actions by the U.S. in Hawai`i have also been uncovered and deemed to be in violation of both U.S. domestic and international laws.
Even the silly Akaka bill, the legislation that would turn ethnic Hawaiians into "indians," is seen for what it is - more charade and land grabs.
This, of course, is in conflict of the bona fide Hawai`i Nationals of the Kingdom living today.
Isn't It Time To End The Charade & Realize The Facts ?

A big mahalo to all who let us know how inspired they felt after watching our visit with Andre Perez of Hui Pu last week.
We agree – it’s easy getting motivated after watching Andre, hearing all he’s been through and still not letting up for a second to help restore a Free Hawai`i.
One simple thing everyone can do right now is contact your representatives and let them know you want public hearings held this year on each of the islands in Hawai`i on the Akaka bill.
It’s been seven years since the last hearing was held anywhere in the islands and that one was brought to a quick conclusion when people packed the place to voice their strong opposition.
Since then only one other hearing was held, that one in Washington, DC – and no opposition was allowed to testify.
What are they afraid of?
Might it be that the people of Hawai`i are overwhelmingly opposed to federal recognition?

TUESDAY, February 6th At 6:30 PM & WEDNESDAY, February 7th At 6:30 AM – Maui – Akaku, Channel 53
THURSDAY, February 8th At 8:30 PM & FRIDAY, February 9th At 8:30 AM – Kaua`i – Ho`ike, Channel 52
You’ll see why he’s a role model for the `opio (younger generation) of today as well as a leader for tomorrow.
Voices Of Truth interviews those creating a better future for Hawai`i to discover what made them go from armchair observers to active participants in the hopes of inspiring viewers to do the same.
Those not in Hawai`i wishing to view the series may do so by visiting http://www.olelo.org and then clicking “NAT- Channel 53.” A screen should then display allowing you to see the show via live streaming.

The Hawaiian people have suffered since the first Western contact in 1778.
Western diseases, to which Hawaiians had no immunity, decimated their numbers.
At the time of western contact, some 800,000 people inhabited the Hawaiian Islands.
By 1805 that number had been halved.
By 1853 there were only 71,000 Hawaiian or part-Hawaiian people in the islands.
Within 100 years of western contact, the Hawaiian population had been reduced by nearly 90 percent.
According to the 2000 census, the numbers of people who claim some native Hawaiian ancestry have increased to over 400,000.
But only 239,000 live in Hawaii and they are the poorest, most locked-up population in the state.
Although they only make up about 20 percent of the state's population, in June 2001 they made up 39 percent of the state's prison population, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
And they make up 37 percent of the state's homeless population, according to a 2003 survey.

ONLY IF FEDERAL RECOGNITION PASSES!
On January 18th, the Associated Press reported "Hawai`i Sen. Daniel K. Akaka warned fellow senators that failure to adopt his bill to grant Native Hawaiians federal recognition could lead to a 'divided Hawaii.'"
Here's One Hawaiians Reply -
Your article spins the truth of how things are in Hawai`i.
What Akaka states in this article is an old argument several months old.
In truth, this bill has already divided some Hawaiians and if passed, it will further divide the Hawaiian community.
Our struggle for US deoccupation and restoring our national independence is one that has continued since the US belligerent invasion of 1893.
Our Ku'e Petitions have been suppressed and ignored then as our protests have been ever since to today.
The more people learn the truth, the more they want the US to deoccupy Hawai`i.
Hawai`i has a very strong case to that effect and is asking for justice.
The Akaka Bill is a US domestic bill they want to pass into law for native Hawaiians while ignoring the bonafide 16% of non-Hawaii descendants of Hawaii's Nationals and citizens.
We were not a tribal group but national citizens of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
We never gave up our rights to it and we won't now.
We love our country as much as US Americans love theirs.
It's time to pay the piper and deoccupy Hawai`i.
