Those who live on islands must have successful land management systems or those who live there will eventually starve and die.
Such was the case with the ahupua`a system in ancient hawaii.
It worked so well that Hawai`i of old was able to sustain a population similar in size to todayʻs and yet no food was imported.
It was all grown locally and it was abundant, healthy and fresh.
Thatʻs why it should come as no surprise the ahupua`a system is making a strong comeback today, and one of those leading the way is Mahealani Cypher.

A BETTER WAY FOR HAWAI`IʻS LAND IS AT HAND ON “VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`IʻS FUTURE”

HE MADE HIS MARK & IGNITED A SPARK ON “VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`IʻS FUTURE”
When Keone Nunes first started investigating the ancient cultural tattoos of old Hawai`i, the first thing he discovered was just a handful of people knew anything about them at all.
The second thing he found out was that no one was doing them. They were virtually a lost art.
As he expanded his research, his hula halau haumana, or students of his hula classes asked if they could get these kind of tattoos.
But who to do the work?

An ancient art done over the centuries with hand-made tools, it was nearly lost forever until Keone Nunes single-handedly revived it.
