KE AUPUNI UPDATE - OCTOBER 2021

Keeping in touch and updated on activities regarding the restoration of Ke Aupuni o Hawai`i, the Hawaiian Kingdom. Ua Mau Ke Ea O Ka `Aina I Ka Pono.

The Papal Bulls To McKinley

The "Papal Bulls” set in motion 600 years of colonialism, the forceful spread of western civilization, religion and culture, often resulting in atrocities against native peoples, the forcible taking of lands (including whole continents); the rampant plundering of resources and wanton destruction of the environment…

Today, though not quite as obvious and masked by global pervasiveness, colonial attitudes and practices remain embedded in the culture, mindset and politics of modern society. Like it or not, colonial doctrines continue to drive society today.

Last month, the United Nations (a club consisting of colonial countries and their former colonies) issued a declaration of the Fourth International Decade for the Eradication of All Forms of Colonialism. Wow! Sounds great! The UN acknowledges it wants to eradicate all forms of colonialism! But wait! Fourth decade? What happened in the first three decades? Absolutely nothing!

Like the infamous 1993 U.S. Apology for the taking of Hawaii, the UN declaration is just lip service. There is no honor in saying you are sorry and going to make it right, but never getting around to it. There is no justice in allowing wrongs to continue.

At its root, much of today’s civil unrest is pushback against nearly 600 years of colonialism. People realize the system is not going to fix itself. The people of our nation — the lāhui — have taken the initiative by standing our ground and battling for our ʻāina from Kahoʻolawe, Kalama Valley, Waiahole-Waikāne... all the way to Āʻole Fed Wreck, Kū Kiaʻi Mauna, and most recently, Hūnānāniho. Our Kūʻē actions have caused the cessation of bombings and other destructive activity, the return of lands, the restoration of place-names, streets, sites, schools and buildings. We have seen the installations of numerous statues and memorials to the aliʻi and heroes of our lāhui.

One of the most obvious and offensive symbols of Manifest Destiny (the American brand of colonialism), is having the name, President William McKinley (and his statue) affixed to one of Hawaiʻi’s top schools. Changing its name back to Honolulu High School would have a huge impact in shifting the fake narrative to the truth of what really happened, and that our nation, the Hawaiian Kingdom, continues to exist and is on the rebound.

SIGN THIS PETITION…
Rename McKinley High School and remove the McKinley statue! Our prodding worked! The DOE told us we they will soon start seeking public input. That means they are considering it. Sign this online petition NOW! Tell everyone you know to sign it too!

 FOR HUMANITYʻS SAKE???

"For Humanityʻs Sake."

Oh, so thatʻs why McKinley (on the left) "annexed" Hawai`i... it was "For Humanityʻs Sake."

Sounds like a nice motive.

But, McKinley was not a humanitarian. Far from it.

This guy oversaw the breakup of the Five Civilized (Indian) Nations and triggered the awful genocide of at least 250,000 Filipinos.

McKinley acted like the ruthless taking of Hawai`i was an honorable act of humanitarian generosity... placing the Hawaiian Islands under the rule of white Americans to save these poor, inferior, primitive Hawaiians from themselves.

McKinley stood as a champion of Manifest Destiny... white supremacy draped in the American flag.

Thatʻs why there shouldn't be a school (or anything else in Hawai`i) named after him.

By the way, he was succeeded by the guy on the right, his vice president, Theodore Roosevelt, who wasn't much better.

MCKINLEY STATUE TORN DOWN IN CALIFORNIA - IS HAWAI`I NEXT?

SF Gate - February 28, 2019

After years of contentious debate, an act of vandalism and a public vote, President William McKinley has lost his home at the center of Arcata Plaza in Humboldt County.

The 8 1/2 foot tall bronze statue of McKinley - forged in San Francisco - had stood watch over the picturesque college town's main square for over a century, but future drum circles and farmers markets will have to take place without homage to the 25th president.

McKinley's expansionist policies are now widely viewed as racist toward indigenous people. During his presidential tenure at the turn of the century, McKinley annexed tribal lands in the western U.S. and Hawaii in the name of Manifest Destiny.

A public vote on a measure to protect the state was voted down in Nov. 2018, allowing the city council to move forward with removal plans. The city confirmed that the statue is now gone via press release Thursday. Social media images captured the removal process.

"City staff continued with the statue removal process when a break in the rain occurred with a long enough window for it to be transported safely and at a time when Plaza businesses, parking and traffic would be least impacted," the city wrote.

City officials say the statue of the assassinated president was brought to Arcata after it was created in San Francisco and nearly ruined in the 1906 earthquake and fire. The community of McKinleyville, just north of Arcata, was named in honor of the former president.

Many locals reacting on the Lost Coast Outpost Facebook page cheered the removal, but others felt the change was no cause for celebration.

"It's sad to see history removed, even bad history has a good story to tell," wrote one commenter.

MEMO AUTHOR RIGHT ABOUT NO ANNEXATION OF HAWAI`I

Honolulu Star-Advertiser - September 1, 2014

Regarding the August 24 front-page story, “Memo implies nation effort leads to war crimes,”

All the state "pooh-poohers" have to do to refute Keanu Saiʻs memo is show that the US followed proper procedures to lawfully acquire the Hawaiian Islands. That should be pretty simple. Just show us a duly executed treaty of annexation.

What? There is none?

Oh wait! Yes, there is one, cast in bronze in the hand of the statue of William McKinley in front of McKinley High School.

But, other than that fanciful artistic rendering, no real treaty of annexation exists! Then no jurisdiction transferred.

No annexation, no Territory of Hawai`i. No Territory of Hawai`i, no state of Hawai`i.

If anyone at the Star-Advertiser would bother to do a little research, if they honestly examined the facts, they would see that in all its blustering and “pooh poohing,” the State of Hawai`i has never produced concrete proof that it has lawful jurisdiction in the Hawaiian Islands.

Dr. Sai is right.

THIS ANNEXATION WAS A FABRICATION ON VOICES OF TRUTH – ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I’S FUTURE

Something unusual will occur in Hawai`i tomorrow on Presidentʻs Day, a US national holiday.

Hawai`i Nationals will gather Monday at the statue of US President William McKinley in front of McKinley high school at 10 AM to observe the centennial of the dedication of the statue.

They will do so by marking the fact that this statue of President McKinley holds in its hand something that never existed – a treaty of annexation between the Hawaiian Kingdom and the United States.

While calling attention to that lie, participants will also underscore a truth – that 98% of all Hawaiian Kingdom Nationals alive at the time in 1898 opposed any attempt to cede Hawai`i to the US.

Moreover they made their protest public record in 1897 by signing the Kuʻe petitions, the monster document containing the signatures of nearly all Hawaiian Kingdom citizens alive at the time.

The event tomorrow is free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend and take part in this historic observation of one simple truth – Hawai`i never has been part of the United States.

And speaking of uncovering things, Lanakila Willard was called to uncover one of Mauiʻs largest, oldest and most significant heiaus and what saw in our visit with her is simply amazing.

Donʻt miss our tour of Honua`ula Heiau with Lanakila all this week on Hawai`i’s award winning

“Hawai`iʻs Hidden Past – A Visit with Lanakila Willard"

Lanakila Willard is one of those Hawaiians who got the call from her ancestors. Assuming it to be small, she was stunned to realize the size and scope of what she was uncovering. US LEADERS WERE THE REAL BARBARIANS

Princess Ka`iulani was not a barbarian.

President William McKinley and Vice President Theodore Roosevelt were the barbarians.

Hawaiians never murdered innocent Native Americans, Puerto Ricans, Filipinos and Cubans. McKinley and Roosevelt annexed Hawai`i against the will of the Hawaiian people.

Hawaiians were never allowed to vote for or against the annexation resolution.

The resolution also canceled the treaties Hawai`i had with 20 nations and was against Asian immigration to Hawai`i and the US.

When you read the Hawai`i annexation resolution, you will determine who the real barbarians were.

Historical documents never fantasize and never tell lies.
