HERE'S PART TWO OF FIFTEEN THINGS YOU CAN DO TO CREATE A BETTER HAWAI`I

9. Get a Free Hawai`i bumper sticker and put it on your Car.
10. Contact a Hawaiian government and tell them you want to participate.
11. Contact people working towards restoring Hawaiian control over the Hawaiian islands and offer your support, time and skills.
12. Offer your time and skills when you can.
13. Get on a telephone tree.
14. Vote and elect people who campaign on restoration of Hawaiian’s land, rights and resources.
15.Encourage everyone to think of him/her self as an Hawaiian national instead of a US-defined Native or non-native Hawaiian.

FIFTEEN THINGS YOU CAN DO TO CREATE A BETTER HAWAI`I

  1. Be clear what you want from Hawaiian leaders and tell them.
  2. Participate wherever you can.
  3. Talk about what you and your family and friends are looking for from Hawaiian government so that you can be clear when you tell them what you want. Look for points of agreement.
  4. Take up the differences later.
  5. Understand your rights as Hawaiian nationals and as Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian.)
  6. Study and understand Hawaiian history.
  7. Write and call your legislators and tell them you support a bottom up approach and that Hawaiians are tired of being legislated to without consultation.
  8. Write and call the governor and your legislators and tell them that you support a cohesive Hawaiian political block.
The Conclusion Tomorrow...

WHO REALLY OWNS THE LAND TODAY IN HAWAI`I ?

Land Titles Issued Today Are Very Much In Doubt -

"Clear Title," regarding legitimate legal ownership of land in Hawai`i is a topic quickly becoming an issue in the political and commercial areas.

With more lands being "quiet titled" in the courts by unscrupulous characters with the aid of foreign laws (USA and state of Hawai`i) illegally imposed against the rightful/legal owners of these lands and a judicial system aiding and abetting in these crimes; its no wonder developers want to build thousands of new luxury homes for rich foreigners.

Land titles in Hawai`i continue to carry the original "royal patent" from the mahele in the 1800's during Kingdom of Hawai`i days.

If the U.S. Government or state of Hawai`i and their citizens rightfully have "clear title" to these lands, then why has the U.S. patent not replaced the royal patent as it was done in 49 other states?

Answer - Each royal patent has been "adjudicated," making them all a legal decree.

When purchasing land, a "warranty deed" is issued, not a clear title per se.

Shouldn't a clear title be guaranteed?

Unless, of course, there is no clear title to the land.

HOW DOES HAWAI`I TREAT HAWAIIANS ?

Despite a strong state economy, the homeless rate in Hawai`i has nearly doubled over the past four years, and the majority of the new homeless are native Hawaiians and those with some Hawaiian ancestry.

From fabled Waikiki Beach, one of the places where the homeless congregate on O`ahu, to the neighboring islands that conjure the image of paradise to planeloads of tourists who arrive daily, there is increasing tension between the thousands of homeless people, their advocates, and state, city, and county governments.

Hawaiians represent only about 23 percent of the state's population, but the state survey suggested they make up 37 percent of the state's homeless population.

SONGS FOR OUR SOUL ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

OK
. Enough already!

Well, once again, for yet another week, we’ve been overwhelmed with response from our viewers about our Manu Meyer segment.

Mahalo one more time for your very positive responses. We’re glad you like her.

We do too. We agree Manu is one Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) on the cutting edge.

This week, we bring you another brand new segment and what a great one it is.

Liko Martin is one of Hawai`i’s premier songwriters and musicians. He’s also a strong advocate for a Free Hawai`i.

But Liko’s journey to where he is today was not always smooth.

Like many, Liko had his ups and downs along the way and after a long wait, we finally got him to sit down and tell us all – how he creates his music, what the life of an artist is like, and all about the struggles to become who he is today.

We encourage all of you, aspiring creative types or not, to gather your `ohana (family) this week and join us as we visit with Liko, in this heart-warming and inspiring story.

One of Hawai`i’s greatest living talents – Liko Martin, the man who writes songs for our soul – all new and right here for you on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

Programming Change Note - Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future is now seen across Hawai`i Island on Channel 53 on Na Leo.

ALOHA MAI KAKOU!
WELCOME IF YOU'RE VISITING FREEHAWAII.INFO FOR THE FIRST TIME!

Free Hawai`i means returning the Hawaiian Islands back to an independent nation status, as it was before it was illegally overthrown by US marines and rich sugar barons in 1893.

In 1993, President Clinton formally apologized for that act and publicly acknowledged the illegality of the overthrow.

DID YOU KNOW -

98% of all Hawaiians living at the time opposed the illegal overthrow!

Today, less than 20% of all land in Hawai`i is in Hawaiian hands. Over 60% today is in non-Hawaiian hands!

A few individuals, who are non-Hawaiian, lease an amount of land in Hawai`i that is greater than all land leased to all Native Hawaiians!

Currently, only 72 landowners control 95% of all land in Hawai`i.

Native Hawaiians make up the largest percentage of homeless in Hawai`i today.

Native Hawaiians have the worst social, educational and economic indicators compared to any ethnic group in the US.

Native Hawaiians currently have the worst health profile compared to any ethnic group in the US.

Descendants of the Hawaiian Nation want their country and land back so they can grow their own foods, become healthy once again, and control their own destiny.

WILL HAWAIIANS RIGHT WRONG THROUGH VOTE ON INDEPENDENCE ?

The U.S. Justice Department knows that in 1898 the Congress of the United States made a grave mistake by attempting to annex Hawai`i by joint resolution 51.

They violated their own constitution and laws.

Hawaiians were not allowed to vote for or against annexation.

The U.S. Senate tried two times to pass a treaty of annexation of Hawai`i.

Twice it failed.

If they had allowed the majority of the citizens of the Kingdom of Hawai`i in 1898 to vote, it would have been an overwhelming "no."

The only way the U.S. government can right the wrong it inflicted on Hawaiians is to let those descendants of the citizens of the Hawaiian Kingdom decide if they want independent status or be part of the American system.

If Hawaiian Kingdom national descendants are not allowed to vote for the form of governance they prefer then the whole American democratic process is good for nothing.

WHAT ARE THE FOUR ELEMENTS OF SELF-DETERMINATION ?

1 - A Land Base - the Hawaiian Islands.

2 - A Distinct Population - all peoples possessing the inherent right to the Hawaiian Kingdom.

3 - A Government - the government that was unlawfully overthrown.

4 - Self-determination and the right to exercise it. A place in the Family of Nations.

FEDERAL RECOGNITION CAN'T COMPARE TO INDEPENDENCE !

Can you imagine everyone seeking independence, everyone setting themselves free from the slavery of this corrupted system that runs our lives here in Hawai`i?

There would be no state or county.

We would be an independent state or nation again.

We, the people, would be able to control our destiny.

Land would no longer be sold to bigwigs.

House prices would come down so our people would be able to live here.

How can we sell ourselves out again by accepting federal recognition and go along with nation-within-a-nation?

This would be no good for us or our children.

There is a way to freedom.

It's called independence.

HERE'S WHAT ONE PATRIOT SAYS ABOUT THE ILLEGAL US OVERTHROW OF HAWAI`I

In 1843, Hawai`i was a recognized independent nation.

This external sovereignty recognition put Hawai`i in peerage with the USA and Europe's world powers in the Family of Nations.

Eventually, Hawai`i acquired treaties from 25 world nations and had 96 legates and consuls throughout the world.

US covert and overt activities led to the 1893 invasion of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the US immediately recognized its complicitors proclamation without the people's knowledge.

Using that backing, they created the bogus "Republic of Hawai`i" against the people's wishes.

All legal attempts to annex Hawai`i to the US failed because the citizens of the Hawaiian Nation then overwhelmly protested and sent their Ku`e Petitions to Washington D.C.

In covering up the hoax, Congress was forced to pass the Newlands Resolution declaring that the majority wished for the annexation of Hawai`i without a lawful treaty.

That's how Hawai`i became unlawfully annexed.

Throughout the US belligerent occupation, our dissent and protests have been suppressed and muted from the US citizens and a revised history has been taught.

Our nation, which was a multi-ethnic country with 16% of its subjects being of non-Native Hawaiian foreign origins, still exists even though under US occupation.

We, Hawaii Nationals, are against that Akaka Bill or anything to make us a US tribe.

We want you to quit this nonsense and deoccupy our nation-state.

After all, you must love your country as much as we do and want to do the right thing.

WHO REALLY RUNS THE WORLD?
FIND OUT ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

Did you ever stop and wonder who runs the world?

Like, who’s really in charge?

Many think they know. They’ll name powerful people in politics, finance, entertainment and the like.

But people don’t run the world – ideas do.

We’ve heard the phrase, “nothing’s so powerful as an idea whose time has come.”

Well, we present three individuals this week who know this very well.

Mikiala, Manu and Junior are all working at the grass-roots level and all three are possessed by powerful ideas that have something in common – giving back to the community and working towards a Free Hawai`i.

If you’ve ever said, “I wish I could do that too, but I don’t know how,” just watch this week as they show you how.

It’s a reminder that you don’t have to wait to be in a position of power to make a difference for a Free Hawai`i, you can make an impact with your ideas right now wherever you are.

Three who didn’t wait for someone to tell them to act – they just followed their ideas on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

Programming Change Note - Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future is now seen across Hawai`i Island on Channel 53 on Na Leo.

In Mikiala, we find one of those individuals who's an early achiever. As the Moloka`i coordinator for Na Pua No`eau, this young makuahine (woman) is a superb educator and academic culturalist.

We're sure it will be as obvious to you as it is to us how much she treasures her culture and how she puts those treasures to work each and every day.

Be sure and tune in for this one as Mikiala shares her gems of wisdom with us, and see for yourself how each of us can discover our own kuleana (area of responsibility) to create a better future for Hawai`i.

Every now and then we come across someone who feels the call of a place and is moved to do something about it.

Junior Kanuha, Kanaka Maoli with deep roots in North Kona, Moku o Keawe is just such a person.

Waterman, businessman, community activist and energetic supporter of all things Hawaiian, Junior’s made a personal commitment to cleaning up and caring for wahi pana kahiko, ancient sacred sites.

Keolonahihi in North Kona is the place he cares for – both figuratively and literally. Here’s the extraordinary part – no one asked him to.

Junior tells us he’s just following spiritual direction – he says he’s only the gardener, the caretaker, ka hapai opala, the guy who hauls off the trash.

Don’t miss Junior as he explains not only what he does but also why he does it, revealing along the way the history and significance of this extraordinary place of beauty and ancient history.

BEVERLY HILLS DEVELOPER THREATENS HAWAIIAN LAND

Native Hawaiian Cultural Sites & Endangered Species At Risk

California developers want to build another gated community that locks locals out of their homeland and destroys our wilderness area forever.

The Sea Mountain Five Development would turn 430 acres in one of the last undeveloped areas in south Hawai`i into a massive construction zone for twenty years in order to build 1500 luxury homes for the wealthy, develop 2 acres for retail space and include 2 high-end resorts with golf courses.

If approved, this development will to destroy a remote area of South Hawai`i Island that has important cultural significance and is very environmentally sensitive and a way of life for local residents.

Punalu`u is a remote area on the south end of Hawai`i Island that provides habitat to hundreds of highly endangered Hawksbill Turtles, Green Sea turtles, monk seals, and thousands of sea birds.

It is an area that is widely relied upon by local people for sustenance and recreation.

Moreover, the area has scores of ancient historic sites, burials and sacred heiau (temples).

Evidence of pre-contact Hawai`i abounds.

Punalu`u in Ka`u is very special area and has been a living classroom for centuries. If it is protected, it can continue to serve as an "Eco-Campus" for students and educators, Hawai`i's residents and visitors.

THE TRUTH IS OUT - 99% OF ALL HAWAIIANS DID NOT WANT THE U.S. TO ANNEX HAWAI`I

Did You Know ? -

In 1897 and 1898, 99% of all Native Hawaiians, as well as non-natives throughout all the islands, signed a petition to U.S. Congress asking that the U.S. not annex Hawai`i.

This petition was rediscovered in the U.S. Archives only within the past 10 years, and today's Hawaiians are proud to find the signatures of their ancestors on this document.

Here's where to see it -

WHAT CAN AMERICANS DO SO HAWAI`I CAN RECOVER ITS INDEPENDENCE ?

US Americans should start using critical thinking in resolving the Hawaiian issue.

If, in fact, the US is unlawfully occupying Hawai`i, logically it should deoccupy it.

One should become familiar with the laws of occupation to understand the issues.

One will also understand the folly of attempting to turn Hawaiians into American indians and tribes through federal recognition and what it seditiously represents.

Misrepresentation of the facts have been fostered on the US Americans as well as what has and is being done in their name.

Amid the myths and hoax lie documented facts with US admittance of misprision through covert and overt activities to destabilize the Hawaiian Kingdom, invasion, and takeover through a declaration among those involved, with the complicity of the USA and unbeknownst to the subjects of the Kingdom over a century ago.

This then took shape in a fake revolution to validate the nefarious actions spurred by the US government officials and their US American counterparts residing within the Hawaiian Kingdom.

DOES AMERICA HAVE A MONOPOLY ON LOVE OF COUNTRY ?

In 1993, the United States of America admitted in US Public Law 103-150 that it violated its own Constitution, its treaties, international law and, by implication, all of the Christian teachings by perpetrating an outrageous armed theft of the Kingdom of Hawai`i and the forced American citizenship of Hawaiian national citizens.

America recognized in 1894, and again in 1993, that the Kingdom of Hawai`i has a right to exist.

The Hawaiian Nation has a right and obligation to enact and dictate land laws which prevent the selling of its lands to foreign speculators at prices which deny native nationals from living on their own home islands at an affordable price.

The Hawaiian nation has a right and obligation to protect and defend the quality of life, land, water, ocean and air.

The Hawaiian nation has a right and obligation to its citizens to provide the best in education, health care and housing.

Patriotism and love for our Nation of Hawai`i is what this all is about.

OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS SELLS OUT MOLOKA`I HAWAIIANS

By Audrey McAvoy -Associated Press

About 40 protesters filed though Kawaiahao Church during the swearing-in ceremony for Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustees yesterday to demonstrate against a plan to build 200 luxury estates at Laau Point on Molokai.

Demonstration leader Walter Ritte said the development supported by OHA would deplete and destroy the best fishing grounds on Molokai.

"It's going to be very detrimental to our cultural lifestyle," said Ritte. "We're here to ask the ... Office of Hawaiian Affairs to support Hawaiians."

Ten protesters flew over from Molokai for the event while the rest joined from Oahu.

Ritte said they want OHA trustees to withdraw a resolution they passed in support of the development in September 2005.

The proposal by landowner Molokai Ranch would transform 500 acres of pristine beachfront land at Laau into a 200-lot luxury subdivision....

The protesters, many wearing red T-shirts, walked through the central aisle of the church sanctuary in silence. They had wanted to carry signs with them but left them outside at the request of church leaders.

The protesters also waved to passing traffic outside the church while holding signs saying "OHA insults Molokai" and "OHA represents developers."

Colette Machado, trustee for Molokai and Lanai, said after the swearing-in ceremony that the project would build only 200 lots at a time when other communities, like Kau on the Big Island, were facing developments that would build thousands of new homes....

"You can't get it any better from any court settlement or any kind of future litigation," Machado said. "It's a reasonable and just approach."

Ritte scoffed at the idea of a trade-off.

"Give up your daughter to save the family - let her be a whore. That doesn't sell on Molokai. That's basically what the deal is," Ritte said. "We're not going to give up anybody in our family. We need the whole family to survive...."

TRAPPED ON THE BEACH

How Hawai`i Cares For Native Hawaiians & Others At The Bottom Of The Barrel

Intl. Herald Tribune - December 5, 2006

Many living on the beach have jobs, mostly in the service and construction sectors. They include families with children, who attend public schools by day and sleep in tents on the beach at night.

Venise Lewis, 35, who lives near Greenwood at Maili Beach Park with her husband and two of their four children, said her daughters, 8 and 10 years old, must finish their homework in the afternoon because there was no lighting at the beach after sunset.

Lewis's oldest daughter lives with a grandmother, and her son lives with the family's pastor.

"They don't like the idea of living on the beach," she said of her younger children. "Usually when we go camping, we go home if it rains...."

On Nov. 18, the state poured the foundation for an emergency transitional shelter in Wai`anae that will house up to 300 people when it opens early next year.

The state is looking at building shelters at eight more sites along the Wai`anae Coast.

But Dino Palisbo, who has been living at Maili Beach Park with his girlfriend and their three dogs for about a year, said some people did not want to trade the freedom of the beach for the rules of a transitional shelter.

"Half of them can pay rent, but it is so high it is going to take them out of the comfort zone," Palisbo said. "When a studio costs $700 or $800, how can a family put four or five kids there?..."

HAWAI`I'S BURGEONING HOMELESS POPULATION SEEKS REFUGE ON BEACHES

Intl. Herald Tribune - December 5, 2006

HONOLULU -When the home she had rented for 30 years for $300 a month was sold, Alice Greenwood and her 6-year- old son joined an estimated 1,000 people living in tents along the beaches on the Wai`anae Coast of O`ahu.

"There was no choice but to come on the beach," said Greenwood, 60, who is disabled because of a work-related injury she suffered eight years ago and who lost her benefits a month before losing her home.

Homelessness in Hawai`i has become so pervasive that the governor has assigned a state employee to work full- time at getting people off the beaches and into transitional housing.

Once there, they have access to rent assistance programs and affordable housing.

While hundreds of homeless people live on Honolulu's beaches, including the tourist center Waikiki, it is along the 13 miles, or 20 kilometers, of beaches along the Wai`anae Coast on the semiarid west shore where the problem is most visible.

The population of Wai`anae, home to about 40,000 of O`ahu's 900,000 people, is predominately native Hawaiian and is historically low income....

The real estate market has skyrocketed along with the job growth, and houses on the Wai`anae Coast that rented for $200 or $300 a month a couple of years ago are now advertised for more than $1,000.

Nobody knows exactly how many people are living on the beach.

Kaulana Park, the state's point man for the homeless, estimated that more than 1,000 people lived on the Wai`anae Coast beaches but cautioned that any count was good only on the day it was taken.

And that estimate does not account for the hidden homeless - people who sleep on a relative's sofa, or in their cars, or camp in areas not as visible as the public beaches.

CURIOUS ABOUT HOW HAWAI`I SUPPOSEDLY BECAME A US STATE ?

The United States acquired Hawai`i through force.

Queen Lili'uokalani, Hawai`i's last Queen, was deposed on Jan. 17, 1893, by a group of American businessmen supported by the United States Navy and Marine Corps and diplomatic representatives.

Sovereignty of Hawai`i was allegedly transferred to the U.S. on Aug. 12, 1898 during ceremonies at Iolani Palace in Honolulu, on the island of Oahu.

Hawai`i allegedly became a U.S. territory in 1900.

On Nov. 23, 1993, The United States apologized for illegally overthrowing the Kingdom of Hawai`i, and recognized the inherent sovereignty and right of self-determination of native islanders.

Needless to say, a lot of shady events took place between Jan. 17,1893 and Aug. 21, 1959.

Hawaiian sovereignty is a hot issue in the islands to this day and likely will be for as long as the United States flag flies over Hawai`i.

OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS SPENDS HAWAIIAN BENEFICIARY MONEY ON LAVISH PARTIES FOR WASHINGTON LOBBYISTS

OHA Spends Almost $40,000 On Author Of Akaka Bill

Zell & Cox, the other lobbying firm hired by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to assist on the Akaka bill, was hired last year under a two-year contract for $150,000 a year.

Zell & Cox have no other clients except OHA.

A partner in the firm is attorney Patricia Zell, a former longtime staffer for the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs and chief of staff for the committee when it was chaired by Hawai`i Sen. Daniel K. Inouye.

It was Pat Zell who actually wrote the Akaka bill when she worked for Inouye.

Zell retired from federal employment at the end of 2004 and went into business with her husband, Michael Cox, also a lawyer and a longtime Washington lobbyist.

The partnership registered with the Senate as an OHA lobbyist in June 2005 and since then has registered no other clients, according to Senate records.

OHA has had a close working relationship with Zell for years.

In August 2004, OHA spent $37,000 of Hawaiian beneficiary money on a retirement party that honored Zell for "her steadfast support and work in advancing the well-being of Native Hawaiians" during 23 years of service at the Indian Affairs Committee.

The retirement bash was held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and included presentation of some $1,000 in gifts, lei and commemorative photographs to Zell, records show.

Tickets that OHA sold for the even
t brought in only $9,000.

The party should have been much smaller in scale, because of course, most Hawaiians are still waiting for their "well-being" to show up.

OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS LOBBYIST HAS BLOOD OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES ON HIS HANDS

OHA Stoops To New Lows To Get Akaka Bill Passed

OHA has refused to disclose detailed records of its Washington lobbying campaign, claiming that because the work was performed by law firms, the records are protected by the attorney-client privilege.

A protest of OHA's refusal to reveal the billing records itemized accounts of who was lobbied and what expenses were incurred has been pending before the state Office of Information Practices for more than a year.

OHA spent $1.8 million on Akaka bill lobbying by a major Washington, D.C., lobbying firm, Patton Boggs, according to federal lobbying records.

When the lobbying contract was signed in May 2003, Boggs was charging $735 per hour for his services.

According to author Anne Keala Kelly, "
When Boggs Jr.'s firm was known as Patton Boggs & Blow, Boggs lobbied the hill during the Carter Administration against restrictions on the sale of weapons to Guatemala . The firm represented the Guatemalan General turned President, Romeo Lucas Garcia.

Boggs personally represented Amigos del Pais, a group of landowners in Guatemala that helped fund Garcia's death squads, supported throughout the 1980s by the Reagan Administration's CIA, and responsible for the deaths of over two hundred thousand of Guatemala's Indigenous peoples, workers, and human rights activists.

That the Office of Hawaiian Affairs would put themselves into business—and by proxy, all the Indigenous people of Hawai`i—with a firm that has a history of representing the interests of systemic murderers of Indigenous peoples is indeed troublesome."

OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS SPENDS MILLIONS MORE THAN IT ADMITS

OHA Claims $2 Million For Akaka Bill - $7 Million Is Actual Figure

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs claims to have spent an amazing $2 million on its congressional lobbying efforts for the Akaka bill.

That amount represents a third of all money spent by Hawai`i companies, private citizens and government agencies on Washington lobbying since 2003.

Yet, according to internal documents, OHA earmarked $7 million just for 2006 on its ill-fated attempt to get the Akaka bill passed.

Even at the admitted $2 million level, the OHA expenditure was the highest on the list of total dollars spent on lobbying efforts in Congress, US Senate records show.

OHA's Akaka bill campaign was led by high-powered lobbyists with strong ties to both the Democratic and Republican power structures in Washington, including connections at the highest levels of the White House and the U.S. Senate.

Despite spending four times as much on lobbying as any other Hawai`i entity and the political clout of its lobbying team, OHA consistently failed in its attempts from 2003 through 2006 to get the Akaka bill passed.

The bill would have legitimized the illegal US overthrow of the Hawaiian Nation and sealed massive land thefts by foreign nationals that occured thereafter.

Worse, the alleged $2 million in OHA fees does not include $900,000 spent by the agency since 2003 to operate and staff their do-nothing Washington bureau.

Nor does it include costs incurred by regular visits to Washington by OHA and other officials, including Gov. Linda Lingle, to seek passage of the Akaka bill, all at taxpayer expense.

And it does not include $120,000 spent by Maui-based private developer Everett Dowling's company on pro-Akaka bill Washington lobbying, which stands to profit handsomely at the expense of Native Hawaiians should the bill ever become law.

Dowling, who has been involved in several development deals with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands on Maui, said he spent the money because, "I think federal recognition is important."

No doubt, since the very lands he develops was stolen from the Hawaiian Nation to begin with.
