HAWAIIAN FLAG RESOLUTION PASSES STATE SENATE

On Monday, April 6, the full Senate unanimously passed Senate Concurrent Resolution (SCR) 39 and Senate Resolution (SR) 14: Requesting the Governor to order the exclusive display of the flag of Hawaii over state buildings on January 17 of each year.

The SR 14 is now adopted by the Senate, while SCR 39 has been transmitted from the Senate to the House for consideration. We will see what committee it gets referred to in the House, then mobilize to lobby for it to be passed.

Mahalo nui to those who came in person to the Senate session on Monday to witness the resos being passed.

The Battle of Mauna Kea -

Unity is in Aloha Aina!

The Ku’e action to peacefully block the construction of the monstrous “Thirty Meter Telescope” atop Mauna Awakea (Mauna Kea) is going viral. Not only is support pouring in from around the islands but its taking on global dimensions as well. Press and social media is rallying support from all quarters of the world. And it’s just begun.

Governor Ige called for a 1 week suspension of construction, a token move to try to cool things down. But we have to remain vigilant. As we’ve seen in the past (Naue, for instance), these periods of truce are often used by developers to jump ahead with construction while the people’s guard is down. Our side is wisely using this time to rally even more people to kokua and malama aina…

Next Committee Of Hawaiian Nationals Meeting -

The Committee of Hawaiian Nationals is having another Talk-Story Briefing at Native Books (Na Mea) at Ward Warehouse on Monday, April 13 from 6:00-8:30 PM. See the attached flyer.

We’ll be catching up on a lot of recent developments plus discussing new Ku’e Actions (like Mauna Kea), international initiatives and ways we can be effective in bringing about a Free Hawaii.

TWO RESOLUTIONS TO SUPPORT -  COMMITTEE OF HAWAIIAN NATIONALS  UPDATE

The Committee of Hawaiian Nationals is pleased to announce that we were able to get two resolutions (with concurrent resolutions) introduced at the Hawaii State Legislature. Now we have to lobby to get them passed.

The purpose of these resolutions is to get the fake state to respect our nationality and stop discrimination and mistreatment of Hawaiian nationals.

If we can mobilize a fraction of the energy and mana’o that was used to stop the Carleton Ching appointment and other bad stuff from happening, just think what we can do to get good stuff going! These “resos" may seem insignificant, but they will have a huge, game-changing impact!

TWO PAIRS OF RESOLUTIONS

House Resolution 45 (HR 45) is titled: “RECOGNIZING HAWAIIAN NATIONALS AS A POPULATION RESIDING LAWFULLY IN THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS”  Passage of this resolution would be a game-changer. It would have the fake state acknowledge (admit) the lawful status of Hawaiian nationals and it would stop the discriminatory actions currently being committed against Hawaiian nationals by state law enforcement, judiciary, agencies, etc.

HR 45 was introduced by Rep Kaniela Ing and it has been referred to the House Ocean Marine Resources & Hawaiian Affairs (OMH); Judiciary (JUD) and Finance (FIN) committees in that order.

To view the status of HR 45 go here

To read the text of the resolution go here

House Concurrent Resolution 85 (HCR 85) is identical and has also been referred to OMH, JUD and FIN.

Start lobbying Kaniela Ing now, to schedule a hearing for both HR 45 and HCR 85.  Here are Rep Ing’s coordinates -

Representative Kaniela Ing
Hawaii State Capitol Room 311
phone: 808-586-8525
reping@capitol.hawaii.gov

Prepare your testimony now in support of HR 45 and HCR 85 so when the hearing is announced you’ll be ready to. Spread the word and let’s get as many people as possible involved.

-----
Senate Resolution 14 (SR 14) and Senate Concurrent Resolution 39 (SCR 39) are identical: REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR TO ORDER THE EXCLUSIVE DISPLAY OF THE FLAG OF HAWAII OVER STATE BUILDINGS ON JANUARY 17 OF EACH YEAR.

To view the status of SR 14 go here

To read the text of the resolution go here

It’s not as strong as we asked for, but it is a start. Main thing is that it reminds the fake state every year of the significance of the date.

The resolutions were introduced by Sen. Maile Shimabukuro and referred to the Senate Government Operations (GVO) committee.

Let’s organize some lobbying behind this!

1. We have to get it heard by the Senate Government Operations Committee

2. To do so, we have to coax the committee chair, Sen. Donovan Dela Cruz to schedule and hold a hearing.

3. That means generating lots of phone calls and emails requesting Sen. Dela Cruz to schedule a hearing for SR 14 and SCR 39. Here are his coordinates -

Senator Donovan Dela Cruz
Hawaii State Capitol Room 202
phone: 808-586-6090fax: 808-586-6091
sendelacruz@capitol.hawaii.gov

Once the hearing date is set, make sure to get lots of in-person and sent-in testimonies submitted, favoring the resolutions.

Again, the object is to have the state and the people of Hawaii honor the significance of the January 17 date every year.
