MOSCOW TIMES CITIES U.S. INVASION OF HAWAI`I
Moscow Times - April 10, 2014
In discussing the recent Crimea invasion they noted -
It is true that the US annexation of Texas in 1845 was a vivid example of manifest destiny, imperialism and promoting the interests of the powerful, slaveholding class in the South. The Texas annexation, which extended the state's border to the Rio Grande river, was a clear act of provocation against Mexico, which had historical claims to parts of Texas. The annexation sparked the Mexican-American war of 1846-48, which the U.S. won, giving it ownership of a huge swath of western territories from Colorado to California.
Similarly, Hawai`i was annexed (sic) in 1898 after the US orchestrated a coup overthrowing the Hawaiian monarchy in 1893. The main economic motive of the coup was to exploit Hawaii's sugar wealth and promote the interests of the five largest U.S. sugarcane-processing corporations working on the islands.

WHAT IF US PRESIDENT OBAMA SAID THIS ABOUT HAWAI`I?
Hereʻs What He Said Yesterday Regarding Crimea -
"And as I told President Putin yesterday, the referendum in Crimea was a clear violation of Ukrainian constitutions and international law, and it will not be recognized by the international community."
If We Substitute A Few Words Hereʻs What He Would Say About Hawai`i -
"And as I told Hawai`i Governor Neil Abercrombie yesterday, the 1959 US statehood referendum in Hawai`i was a clear violation of the Hawaiian Kingdom constitution and international law, and it will not be recognized by the international community."

WHAT IF THE RUSSIANS HAD SAID THIS TODAY ABOUT HAWAI`I?
On March 4, 2014, US Secretary of State John Kerry in Kiev, Ukraine, attacked Russia for their actions.
Here is what he said -
“They would have you believe that ethnic Russians and Russian bases are threatened. They would have you believe the Kiev was trying to destabilize Crimea or that Russian actions were legal or legitimate because Crimean leaders invited intervention. And as everybody knows the soldiers in Crimea, at the instruction of their government, had stood their ground, had never fired a shot, never issued one provocation.”
But What If We Take Kerryʻs Statement, Change A Few Words & Pretend The Russians Said This In Return About The US Occupation Of Hawai`i?
“They would have you believe that Americans and US bases are threatened. They would have you believe that agents of the Hawaiian Kingdom were trying to destabilize the provisional government or that US actions were legal or legitimate because the Provisional government invited intervention. And as everybody knows the soldiers in the Hawaiian Kingdom, at the instruction of their Queen, had stood their ground, had never fired a shot, never issued one provocation.”
