GROUNDED SUPERFERRY LEAVES FAMILY STRANDED & FRUSTRATED

KHNL - December 28, 2007

HONOLULU - Harsh weather conditions have grounded the Hawai`i Superferry for a second day.

It will stay docked at Honolulu Harbor at least through Friday, leaving stranded passengers scrambling to find a way to come back home.

The Florence family, for the most part, had a good trip to Maui.

It wasn't until the ferry service was canceled that they started feeling all alone on the Valley Isle.

The Florence family was looking forward to taking the Superferry to Maui for Christmas.

"Because the trip over was real exciting, it was fun, the boys had a great time, we had a beautiful sunrise going over Diamond Head going out, we have pictures of it, just gorgeous," said Katrina Florence.

They enjoyed the trip so much, they were telling everybody about it.

"We've been going around touting to the local establishments, the Superferry was so great. We're going to do this again. It's just so convenient to bring your own car."

But when harsh weather conditions grounded the Alakai, their happy mood was quickly replaced by a growing sense of frustration.

"The only other option that we were presented when we called the reservation line, is simply we can reimburse your return voyage or book you on another return voyage. That's it."

They couldn't find anyone who could tell them what to do with their stranded vehicle.

"It's kind of like families traveling with cars beware because you can't control the weather and the ship may not be able to travel and if you have a car, you're stuck."

They've been trying to get Superferry employees to help them since Wednesday, but Katrina's husband John has had no luck in getting answers.

"It's just amazing. John called back and he goes, 'I can't believe I've heard nothing from you.'

So, the Florence family is flying back to O`ahu Thursday, but John may have to make an unplanned trip back to Maui....

HISTORY COMES TO LIFE IN A NEW YEAR ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

As 2007 comes to a close, it’s time to look back and see the state of Ka Pae `Aina O Hawai`i Loa, or the Hawaiian archipelago.

Whether it’s the Superferry, millionaire developments such as La`au Point On Molokai, or the Akaka bill, the people this year have spoken out loud and clear.

They have said they want to live in a Hawai`i that puts people before profits and not the other way around.

This of course is at odds with what those in the illegal US occupying military/industrial complex are up to every day.

Foreigners see Hawai`i as an easy target to exploit and extract millions of dollars in profit from, but leave the people and land worse off for it.

They don’t care – they don’t live in Hawai`i.

But the people who love their land and do live here are speaking out like never before, which should give us all hope for the future.

We debut another brand new Voices Of Truth this week, and it may be the most amazing show we’ve ever done yet.

Dr. Baron Kaho`ola Ching takes us to a place few people in Hawai`i have ever seen – Kaniakapupu.

Hidden deep in the forests of Nu`uanu Valley on O`ahu, the summer Palace of Kamehameha III is wrapped in both mystery and history.

It almost defies description, but we knew you’d want a sneak peek at it, so here it is -

And yes, you’ll just have to wait for the rest of the story in our full show with Baron, which is one we’ll long remember and we think you will too.

As always, we’re committed to bringing you the best in 2008, and we wish you all the best in the new Makahiki from Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

MONDAY, December 31st At 7:00 PM & FRIDAY, January 4th At 5:30 PM Hawai`i Island – Na Leo, Channel 53
“Out Of The Box – A Visit With Hinaleimoana Wong”

Since she was last on Voices Of Truth Hina Wong has been, well, busy.

An educator at two charter schools in Hawai`i, Hina delivers the kind of education students crave – and can get virtually nowhere else.

“You don’t have to go far from home to be successful,” is the message she gives her students at Halau Lokahi charter school on O`ahu and another one on the island of Kaua`i.

Teaching Hawaiian cultural values, she helps her students answer the question, who are we as Hawaiians?

Yet don’t for a minute think it’s only native Hawaiians, as students of all ethnicities attend because, as Hina reminds us, her schools mirror the multicultural population of the independent Hawaiian nation before it was illegally overthrown.

The impact her curriculum has had on her students is both profound and lasting. For the first time they see they don’t have to assimilate to be successful.

Bring your entire `ohana together and watch our visit with Hina as she reminds us the children of Hawai`i really don’t have to go and live somewhere else to make it economically. As she herself says, “we want our people to live and thrive right here.”

TUESDAY, January 1st At 6:30 PM & WEDNESDAY, January 2nd At 6:30 AM Maui – Akaku, Channel 53
THURSDAY, January 3rd At 8:30 PM & FRIDAY, January 4th At 8:30 AM Kaua`i – Ho`ike, Channel 52
“Every Feather A Prayer – A Visit With Uncle Helemano”

One day at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center where he worked, Uncle Helemano noticed an old kahili, the feathered standards of old Hawai`i, in need of repair.

He decided he would take it upon himself to learn the skills in order to repair it.

And that’s how Uncle became one of Hawai`i’s best-known contemporary kahili makers.

Naturally when we sat down with him to talk story, he told us some amazing things including who the very first kahili really were.

He also told us kahili marked parameters in the old days when ali`i were present, since ancient Hawai`i had no flags.

We saw right away there’s a lot more to it, since for Uncle creating kahili is not just about passing the culture down through the generations, “it’s also about a positive message to our people.”

Don’t miss our fascinating visit with Uncle Helemano as he actually shares with us his process of making kahili and also shows us some of his astonishing and unique one-of-a-kind pieces. You’ll see for yourself he puts positive thoughts and prayer into each and every feather.

SATURDAY, January 5th At 8:00 PM O`ahu - `Olelo, Channel 53
“Hidden In The Forest – A Visit With Dr. Baron Kaho`ola Ching”

Deep in a rain forest in Nu`uanu Valley sits one of the most remarkable sites in all Hawai`i.

Imagine a place lost in time and space to the modern world – Kaniakapupu.

A palatial summer residence for Kauikeaoli, Kamehameha III, Kaniakapupu was built over one hundred seventy years ago spanning twenty thousand acres.

Ka La Ho`i Ho`i Ea, Sovereignty Restoration Day, was celebrated on the site in 1843 with over ten thousand guests attending.

Several key documents in Hawaiian history were drafted there and many of Hawai`i’s future rulers visited the residence as children.

Then time swallowed up and forgot Kaniakapupu until one day a few years back Baron cut through thick bamboo forests to rediscover it for himself.

What he saw stopped him in his tracks.

Since then, Baron has overseen the caretaking of this astounding place that time forgot.

Whatever you do, don’t miss our visit with Baron to Kaniakapupu. One of the most unique places in all of Hawai`i, you’ll go with us hiking through dense rain forest as we come face to face ourselves with the ancient residence and artifacts left untouched for almost two centuries in this incredible voyage of rediscovery that is sure to take your breath away.

Voices Of Truth interviews those creating a better future for Hawai`i to discover what made them go from armchair observers to active participants in the hopes of inspiring viewers to do the same.

If you missed a show, want you see your favorites again or you don’t live in Hawai`i, here’s how to view our shows anytime – visit VoicesOfTruthTV.com and simply click on the episodes you wish to view.

SECOND SUPERFERRY ON THE WAY

Austal USA Eyes New Project

MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA is hoping to bring more military work to its Mobile shipyard by
building vessels akin to the high-speed passenger-vehicle ferries it produces for commercial clients, said Bill Pfister, the company's vice president of government programs.

Pfister said Austal has a good chance of landing work through the Joint High
Speed Vessel, or JHSV program.

Pfister said the program evolved out of the Army’s
Theater Support Vessel program, which called for converted commercial high-speed ferries to carry troops, trucks, tanks, armored combat vehicles and guns over distances of 1,100 miles or less.

The JHSV would have a shallow draft, making it easy to use at the
relatively shallow ports common in developing countries, according to information released by the U.S. Navy, the buying agent for the program....

The shipyard's approximately 900 workers are now building a littoral combat ship, or LCS, for the U.S. Navy and a second Hawai`i Superferry.

HAWAI`I STATEHOOD VOTE FIXED!

The Maui News

Wendell Nakamura writes that "94 percent of the people of Hawai`i
voted yes to becoming the 50th state" in 1959.

Fact
check: Only 22 percent of the population even voted in the so-called plebiscite for statehood.

More importantly, though, are the questions of who was allowed to
vote, and for what.

Any U.S. citizen who had resided in the islands
for a year was allowed to vote, which included large numbers of American military servicemen and their families, who were essentially the occupation force that has held Hawai`i since the purported annexation in 1898.

Imagine U.S. soldiers being allowed to vote in
Iraqi elections today!

The question on the ballot was: "Shall Hawai`i immediately be admitted
into the union as a state?" Yes or No?

Yet, the U.N. resolution
guiding the process for removal of territories from the List of Non-Self-Governing Territories under which Hawai`i was administered (Resolution 742) stated: "the manner in which Territories . . . can become fully self-governing is primarily through the attainment of independence."

Why was the option of independence not on the ballot in 1959?

But with the wrong question asked of the wrong population, even the
vote in 1959 was not a valid act of self-determination, and did nothing to legitimize the occupation or legally transfer Hawai`i's sovereignty to the United States.

GIVERS GAIN ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

The people who love their land are now taking the Superferry battle into the courtroom.

Irene Bowie, executive director of Maui Tomorrow, says the community group will challenge a new law that has allowed the ferry to resume operations while an environmental impact study is conducted.

The group will make an appeal to the Hawai`i Supreme Court, which previously ruled than an environmental assessment should be completed before the Superferry uses state harbors.

Meanwhile, the National Guard has announced they will use the Superferry to move military vehicles to Maui to clean up after the recent storm.

Is anyone surprised?

The US military wasted no time in proving what others said all along – the Superferry was built by former US military investors for the US military to put Stryker and other equipment on all islands as needed.

With more people calling for a Free Hawai`i every day, can you guess what for?

Because funds are a critical part of any battle, we at the Free Hawai`i Broadcasting Network are pitching in, and we’re asking you to do the same.

We’ve set up a way everyone can contribute a little something towards stopping the Superferry.

As we all know, a lot of little contributions can add up fast.

Use our Stop The Superferry contribution widget at the top right on this page and give whatever you can today.

And if you scroll down, you’ll also see how to take our fundraising widget and put it on your own webpage or My Space page so others can contribute too.

If everyone puts in a little, we all can get a lot of results out.

So we ask for your contribution today in whatever amount you can give.

And that’s what it’s all about – giving to others, as we see in this week’s Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

Very few of us will ever find ourselves entering prison – especially if we’ve committed no crime.

Yet that’s exactly what Andre Perez did upon discovering the state of Hawai`i was shipping significant numbers of native Hawaiian inmates out of Hawai`i to prisons on the US continent in remote places like Arizona and Mississippi.

Andre correctly surmised they were not only longing to be back home, but connected to their culture – some for the first time.

What to do? Hop on a plane and bring their culture to them, starting with observing the Makahiki.

So there they ended up, standing in a prison yard outside in twenty degrees weather, dressed only in malo and kikepa greeting the sun as it rose in the early morning sky to herald the beginning of Makahiki.

You’ll be as riveted as us as Andre describes his experiences inside prison, and what it was like working with the inmates, including a surprise he could have never imagined – coming face to face with a convict who committed a crime against his own family – and who turned out to be his cousin.

"WHALE KILLER" LAUDED FOR PROTECTING ANIMALS

The Garden Island - December 13, 2007

WAIPOULI — Upwards of 50 protesters gathered at the site of the Kaua`i Humane Society annual membership luncheon yesterday to catch Gov. Linda Lingle on her way into the event.

Lingle was invited by the nonprofit to talk about new laws that will better protect Hawai`i pets.

But the demonstrators, many of whom showed up with their own four-legged friends, said they wanted more protection afforded to marine mammals.

Rich Hoeppner, member of environmental group 1,000 Friends of Kaua`i, which filed suit against the state and Hawai`i Superferry, stood with a few dozen others near the entrance to the ResortQuest Kaua`i Beach at Makaiwa yesterday afternoon.

Holding a sign that read “Whale Killer,” Hoeppner said it should be no surprise that residents were using the visit as a forum to express their displeasure.

“Here she is passing laws to support the Superferry that I guarantee are going to kill whales — and to have her honored for wildlife is total insanity,” he said.

VICTORIES FAR & WIDE ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

The people of Maui who love their land turned out this past week to protest the Superferry’s return.

Particularly striking was the large show of US federal, state and local law enforcement to ensure Linda Lingle would deliver on her promises to foreign corporations who fund the Superferry, and the US military complex who will use the ship for transport of US military vehicles between islands.

Be sure and watch Free Hawai`i TV this coming Wednesday for an in depth report along with amazing photos of the event.

There’s lots more developments to come, so stay tuned to Free Hawai`i TV for Superferry breaking news.

Another big victory this last week happened far from Hawai`i, but nevertheless will have a significant impact upon its people.

The Koani Foundation, allied with the UN Indigenous Caucus, was successful in promoting member states of the UN Human Rights Council to institute an "Expert Mechanism on the human rights of indigenous peoples" at the United Nations In Geneva Switzerland on Friday.

Last year the US and others were able to re-organize the UN Human Rights Commission resulting in the elimination of the Working Group on Indigenous Populations and its Indigenous Experts altogether.

Koani Foundation
Director Kai`opua Fyfe, who was there in Geneva this last week, reports the purpose of the "Expert Mechanism" is to ensure native Hawaiians and other indigenous people of the world will once again have a significant and independent voice at the UN.

The Koani Foundation attends the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues each May in New York City to advocate for a Free Hawai`i.

Stay tuned for Kai`opua’s blow-by-blow report on these exciting developments.

PROTESTERS FACE DOWN SUPERFERRY AT KAHULUI HARBOR

Honolulu Star-Bulletin - December 13, 2007

About 100 protesters gathered at Kahului Harbor to protest the Superferry’s arrival on Maui. At about 10:30 AM, 80 people lined Ka`ahumanu Highway outside Kahului Harbor holding signs that read “Give back our Harbor,” and “Boycott the Superferry.”

Another small group of protesters lined the beach holding signs that said, “No Superferry,” and “Impeach Lingle.”

A few protesters paddled into the harbor on surfboards and a canoe. Frank Zajac, who was on the canoe, said, “We’re really not happy the Superferry is coming without studying all the potential problems.

“The harbor is all we (paddlers) have when it’s windy, which is a lot of times on Maui.”

Service to Kaua`i, meanwhile, was stopped by protesters in the water and on the docks of Nawiliwili Harbor after one trip.

SUPERFERRY TO MAKE MAUI TEST RUN

Honolulu Advertiser - December 10, 2007

The Superferry is scheduled to arrive in Kahului Harbor tomorrow morning between 10 AM and 11 AM to realign the vessel with the pier and barge following repairs to the structures made by the state Department of Transportation.

Storm-related damage to the pier and a state-owned barge used to load and unload vehicles from the 350-foot ship forced Hawai`i Superferry to postpone its launch by a week, to Thursday.

The Alakai will depart Kahului and return to Honolulu after realignment is completed, a Superferry news release said.

For tomorrow's arrival, the U.S. Coast Guard's 100-yard moving security zone that is standard for large passenger ships will be in effect, the news release said.

The temporary fixed security zone in Kahului Harbor will not be in effect until Thursday.

LINDA LINGLE COMMITS LONG LIST OF SUPERFERRY MISTAKES

The Hawai`i state Department of Transportation seems bent
on proving it suffered from extreme myopia when preparing for the Superferry.

Of course, No. 1 on
the list is the failure to consider public reaction to not conducting an environmental assessment.

At the very least, logic would dictate that the
Harbors Division would consider conditions unique to Kahului Harbor before deciding to park the ferry's landing barge in a surge-vulnerable spot.

The division would have had to check no further
than its own Kahului harbor master who said last year berth 2C is a poor place for the ferry to tie up.

So the first of the winter swells swept
into the harbor and twice broke the barge loose.

The surge really wasn't much, compared to what
has been seen in the harbor during winter storms.

Another example of DOT nearsightedness is calling
in a traffic expert who doesn't apparently really understand Kahului traffic patterns.

It led to a
court order to restripe the lanes on Puunene Avenue at Ka`ahumanu Avenue that is now being reversed.

The DOT stands convicted of gross mismanagement, at the very least.

SUPERFERRY SURPRISES ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

Some are beginning to have serious doubts as to whether the Superferry will actually sail again.

Others believe it really doesn’t matter, as the ship is not financially viable in the long run anyway.

Whichever way you look at it, it’s been an interesting ten delay filled days.

The high wind and waves that have damaged the pier and docking barge in Kahului harbor is a sure sign the ancestors have spoken and they’re not happy.

Ultimately the Superferry is both a symptom and problem of unchecked top-down imposed growth.

How much development in Hawai`i is enough anyway?

Neighbor island residents don’t want 560 cars lined up jamming their streets, waiting to board the Superferry each day.

They don’t want the environmental and quality of life problems the Superferry is guaranteed to cause.

They simply want to retain their island values and culture.

The Superferry is scheduled to arrive in Kahului harbor this Thursday morning the 13th at 10:15 AM (HST.)

But nothing has gone according to plan for them, so it’s anyone’s guess what will happen this week.

Nevertheless, the people who love their land on Maui will be ready and out in force to protest.

We have been quite moved by the feedback we’ve received on our interview with Andre Perez as he describes his experiences in visits with native Hawaiian inmates in US prisons far from home.

You told us you were particularly moved regarding him unexpectedly meeting his own cousin incarcerated there. Well, we were too.

Andre’s a perfect example of a modern day Hawaiian warrior and we’re gratified to call him our friend.

But Andre’s not alone – there are many others like him, and you can see for yourself this week right here on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

“Fish Out Of Water – A Visit With Andre Perez”

Voices Of Truth interviews those creating a better future for Hawai`i to discover what made them go from armchair observers to active participants in the hopes of inspiring viewers to do the same.

MORE BAD NEWS FOR SUPERFERRY

Rough Seas Cause Test Delay

By Associated Press

HONOLULU (AP) - The Hawai`i Superferry won't be sailing to Maui Tuesday for a test run.

Officials blame rough seas for causing problems at Kahului harbor. The plan for a test run is postponed until Wednesday.

But spokesman Lori Abe says the return of regular Superferry runs between Maui and Honolulu is still set for Thursday.

Waves from 20 to 30 feet have been slamming against the breakwater at Maui's port, causing some lines to break that secure the ferry barge.

Superferry officials say, however, the problems would not have caused the ferry to use the harbor if it had been making regular runs.

There's no schedule yet for a resumption of service to Kaua`i, where protesters stopped the last ferry in August.

MOTHER NATURE SAYS "NO" TO SUPERFERRY

Waves from 20 to 30 feet slammed against the breakwater at Maui's port, causing some lines that secure the Superferry barge to come loose.

Lines securing NCL's Pride of America cruise ship snapped, causing the vessel to cut short its Maui port call and seek safety in the open ocean.

The Coast Guard will be "keeping a close eye" on state and Superferry actions to move and realign the barge, said Lt. John Titchen. The Coast Guard has the authority to decide whether ferry operations at Kahului Harbor can be conducted safely.

Surfers said they were concerned about a security zone that will keep them out of the water because of the Superferry.

The Coast Guard has established security zones that will be in effect an hour before the Superferry arrives at 10:15 a.m. until 10 minutes after its departure at 11:15 a.m. during regular commercial service.

"We're just here to surf. We don't care about no Superferry," said Victor Victorino, a 47-year-old Paia resident.

STORM DELAYS SUPERFERRY RELAUNCH

Environmental Issues Continue To Show Fragility Of Superferry Success

Citing severe weather and surge conditions, the Superferry has delayed relaunch of its service between Oahu and Maui.

Superferry vessel Alakai was to have begun daily round-trip service Thursday.

Company officials say the new relaunch date is Dec. 13.

Hawai`i Department of Transportation is making repairs to Kahului Harbor's Pier 2 mooring bollards.

Superferry passengers who have booked travel between Thursday and Dec. 12 are being offered a refund or rebooking.

BULLETIN! - SUPERFERRY POSTPONES THURSDAY RELAUNCH

Honolulu Advertiser - December 4, 2007

KAHULUI, Maui — Hawai`i Superferry is postponing the relaunch of its Maui-to-Honolulu service until the state can repair pier damage at Kahului Harbor caused by yesterday's high surf.

The company planned to resume service Thursday, and has yet to announce the postponement and a new start date, but Michael Formby of the Department of Transportation said the 350-foot high-speed catamaran would not be able to use the harbor for at least three days.

The time is needed to replace two bollards that were ripped from Pier 2 and to inspect the state-owned barge that will be used to load and unload vehicles from the ferry. The barge also must be realigned to accommodate ferry operations.

Formby said swells within the harbor yesterday were measured at 6 feet.

He called the conditions the worst in recent memory.

FOES READY FOR SUPERFERRY RETURN

Associated Press - December 3, 2007

HONOLULU—Protesters and police are preparing for a possible confrontation when the Hawai`i Superferry returns to Maui this week, with some protesters talking about blocking its path, clogging traffic and facing arrest if necessary.

Inspired by successful protests in the water that stopped the ferry from docking at Kaua`i in August, some opponents say they may risk a clash with a heavy police force that is trying to close off most of the Maui harbor when the ferry approaches.

"All hell is going to break loose because they're angering the fishermen, the surfers, the paddlers and the small boat people," said Karen Chun, a member of the group Save Kahului Harbor.

"The Superferry has misjudged Maui because we have been holding our fire."

It's unclear how many protesters are determined to pursue illegal, nonviolent actions when the 350-foot passenger and vehicle catamaran makes its initial run to Maui on Thursday....

More than 30 Maui residents protested Saturday in Wailuku by holding signs saying "Abuse of Power" and "Cuz, No Take Superferry...."

"People got to do what they've got to do," said Steven Hookano, a taro farmer from Maui's east side. "Everything's up in the air, and people are going to react differently...."

A column published in the national magazine Surferspath.com called on protesters to "make the proper arrangements" and decide when it's "a good day to die" before risking illegal protests....

Peaceful demonstrations involving sign-waving and speeches are planned on Maui when the Superferry lands Thursday and again on the following Saturday....

MAUI RESIDENTS PROTEST SUPERFERRY

Honolulu Star-Bulletin - Sunday, December 2, 2007

WAILUKU - More than 30 east Maui residents protested the impending return of the Hawai`i Superferry, saying the interisle service threatened their livelihood.

Officials of the Eastside Hui, an organizer of yesterday morning's demonstration, said they fear their rural Hawaiian subsistence lifestyle is in jeopardy, including catching fish to help provide food for their families.

Holding signs saying, "Cuz, No Take Superferry" and "Abuse of Power," the group walked a block from the parking lot fronting Ah Fook's Supermarket to a sidewalk fronting Longs Drug Store and the harbor.

The group plans to join other groups in demonstrations at 9 AM on Thursday, the scheduled restart of Superferry travel between O`ahu and Maui, and again on Saturday.

Eastside Hui spokesman Kema Kanakaole said east Maui has limited mountain and ocean resources and he doesn't want people from O`ahu loading their vehicles with fish and depleting resources in the way they have on their island.

"Out in the country we're not set up for massive amounts of people," said Kanakaole. "We want to protect our resources."

PUSH MAY COME TO SHOVE ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

It all comes down this Thursday morning.

The Superferry returns to Kahului harbor on Maui.

And as if that’s not bad enough, US federal police plan to shut down the entire harbor one hour ahead of time.

Anyone who needs to fish to feed their family, anyone who plans on canoeing or those who just want to catch a few waves are out of luck or face US federal indictment.

Heavy-handed? You bet.

Especially so since from the very beginning the people of Maui decided to play by the rules and hoped there could be some kind of reasonable accommodation.

No such luck.

Just as the US sold out Queen Lili`uokalani, Hawai`i’s legitimate ruler over 114 years ago, the US is doing it all over again, thumbing their noses at the residents of Maui whose only real infraction up to this point was to show their good will.

But things have a way of changing – and fast.

Maui citizens are fed-up. They plan to take action.

Anti-Superferry rallies and demonstrations are taking place all over the island.

Be sure and watch FreeHawaiiTV this Tuesday evening for details of daily events.

If you live on Maui, plan to show up and express your outrage.

Let the US and Linda Lingle know they don’t own Hawai`i, the people do.

A big mahalo for all the positive feedback we’ve been getting on our new Voices Of Truth shows this past week. It’s actually been quite overwhelming.

And yes, we have yet another brand new one for you this week.

Andre Perez has got to be one of the bravest people we know.

Andre decided to fly to both Arizona and Mississippi with some friends and visit native Hawaiian prisoners incarcerated far from home so that they can reconnect with their culture.

But let Andre himself tell you about it -

While Andre knew it was going to be an unusual adventure, he had no idea just how unusual things would get.

Be sure and catch our visit with Andre as he’s forced to confront both the future – and his very own past on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

Another Molokai treasure, Keli`i is someone who has taken the natural resources of our ocean seriously.

A champion slack key guitar player as well as diver and fisherman, Keli`i has lived his conviction that our resources are sustainable - but only if we malama (care for) them.

While he shared with us details of his trips to Samoa and Washington, DC, his conviction that Hawai`i no ka 'oi (is the best) comes through loud and clear.

Taped on his Molokai ranch, don't miss this one as Keli'i serenades us with his music and speaks from the heart about issues important to us all that are indeed timeless.
