AKAKA BILL - WHAT WERE THEY TRYING TO HIDE?

Had the authors and advocates of the Akaka bill, which by the way was amended over 12 times in the past 10 years, held public hearings on all islands throughout Hawai`i, opposition from the majority of the people rather than support from just the few like the Office of Hawaii Affairs, Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, State Council of Hawaiian Homes Associations, and Association of Hawaii Civic Clubs, would clearly and definitively have been expressed for the record.

The reason the Akaka Bill didn't pass the 111th Congress is because all the people doing the talking in Washington DC were not talking to the people on all the Islands in Hawai`i. They were all talking to themselves!

Make no mistake, the Akaka Bill is nothing more than another corporate swindle by the US.

As long as there are those who will continue to abuse their authority and take advantage of innocent, decent and hard working people I will oppose such predatory-sinister bills in the guise such as the Akaka Bill.

A DAY TO CELEBRATE – KA LA HO`I HO`I EA – RESTORATION DAY ON VOICES OF TRUTH – ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I’S FUTURE

Ka La Ho`i Ho`i Ea (Restoration Day) celebrates the 1843 British withdrawal from their 5-month military occupation of Hawai`i.

Thomas Square in Honolulu is named after the British military commander who withdrew the British military occupation from Hawai'i in 1843.

And that’s where events are happening to day from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Remembrance and celebration events include music, an art exhibit, community booths, and lots of Kanaka Maoli culture to enjoy!

Everyone is welcome to attend this free public event, at the corner of South Beretania St. and Ward Ave.

We call each year upon the US to withdraw from its illegal occupation of our homeland.

It took the British only five months to realize their mistake.

Why are we still waiting over one hundred years later for the United States to realize theirs?

Most all of you guessed right – the state is planning a 50th Statehood Jubilee Celebration next year and the illegal occupiers of Hawai`i are worried about a show of force at the Palace by the many who support a Free Hawai`i during that time.

We encourage all to attend one of the hearings nearest you to protest their outrageous plans.
