You Read That Right!
A Hawaiian Kingdom Embassy Has Opened In New York.
AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PU`UHONUA BUMPY KANAHELE
By now many of you may have heard about the upcoming Hawaiian Constitutional Convention.
Like anything else, there are lots of details and questions that need to be answered.
Therefore, I have arranged to be part of a Hawaiian Constitutional Convention question and answer forum this coming Saturday, August 2nd at 6:00 PM. Potluck - from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
It will be held in the Jarrett Middle School cafeteria, 1903 Palolo Avenue 96816. Visit http://maps.google.com for directions.
The purpose is to not only answer any questions you may have, but also to address any doubts or skepticism as well. Remember, because this is a people driven initiative, the outcome of this Constitutional Convention is in no way pre-determined.
It is a free, fair and impartial process that will seriously entertain all possible choices such as federal recognition, integration (status quo), free association, and independence. It’s true purpose is to implement the “Will of our People,” period.
We will cover topics such as:
What is a Constitutional Convention? What is the importance of a Hawaiian Constitutional Convention? Why should we have a Hawaiian Constitutional Convention now? How does it differ from the Con-Con the state is planning? Who can participate? Why should I participate?
The session will be videotaped by Palolo Media Center, to be aired at a later date on `Olelo Community Television and public access throughout Hawai`i. Call them at (808) 737-8803 if you have any questions.
Everyone is invited to attend, especially those of you who have not yet decided whether to support such an effort.
So come on down, bring your `Ohana and friends this Saturday and let’s talk story.
A DAY TO CELEBRATE – KA LA HO`I HO`I EA – RESTORATION DAY ON VOICES OF TRUTH – ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I’S FUTURE
Ka La Ho`i Ho`i Ea(Restoration Day) celebrates the 1843 British withdrawal from their 5-month military occupation of Hawai`i.
Thomas Square in Honolulu is named after the British military commander who withdrew the British military occupation from Hawai'i in 1843.
And that’s where events are happening to day from 10 AM – 4 PM.
Remembrance and celebration events include music, an art exhibit, community booths, and lots of Kanaka Maoli culture to enjoy!
Everyone is welcome to attend this free public event, at the corner of South Beretania St. and Ward Ave.
We call each year upon the US to withdraw from its illegal occupation of our homeland.
It took the British only five months to realize their mistake.
Why are we still waiting over one hundred years later for the United States to realize theirs?

Hawaiians suffer the worst health profile in Hawai`i.
While rates of death from heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes have decreased for non-Hawaiians, they have increased, sometimes dramatically, for Hawaiians.
Below 1 year of age, the Hawaiian death rate is more than double the overall official average.
Between 1 and 4 years of age, it is triple the official figure, and so on into adulthood.
Just under 20 percent of the population, we suffer 75 percent of the deaths for persons less than 18 years of age.

IT’S STAND UP & BE COUNTED TIME ON VOICES OF TRUTH – ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I’S FUTURE
We’ve received tons of response since our post yesterday regarding new rules being proposed that would outlaw political expression by Hawaiians and Hawai`i Nationals at `Iolani Palace.
Most all of you guessed right – the state is planning a 50th Statehood Jubilee Celebration next year and the illegal occupiers of Hawai`i are worried about a show of force at the Palace by the many who support a Free Hawai`i during that time.
We encourage all to attend one of the hearings nearest you to protest their outrageous plans.

Show Your Outrage! - Attend Hearings & Tell Them"`A`OLE!" ("NO!")
Department Of Land & Natural Resources (DLNR) will hold public hearings on proposed new rules for `Iolani Palace.
The rules are an attempt to banish the Hawaiian Kingdom from the grounds and prevent anyone from claiming the Palace as an active seat of government in the future.
If successful, DLNR would be able to assert force of law to ensure "museum" status for `Iolani Palace.
It is vital for all concerned citizens of Hawai`i to attend one of the hearings.
Let them know DLNR does not speak for you nor need to "protect" `Iolani Palace from Hawaiians.

From thousands of T-shirts to the establishment of a bureau office in Washington, D.C., the Office of Hawaiian Affairs has spent nearly $7.5 million in the past three years on three separate efforts designed to establish a Hawaiians-only government entity.
OHA spent an additional $2 million in the 2008 budget year that ended June 30 and has budgeted about $2 million for the current year...
WHAT DO HAWAIIAN NATIONALS WANT ? Here Is What They Say About Themselves, Their Countrymen And The United States -
"The most common sense thing is for total independence.
We were a progressive modern nation of our time and recognized as a friendly, neutral nation within the Family of Nations, the predecessor of the League of Nations and the United Nations.
We had a democratic form of government, a constitutional monarchy with a bicameral legislative assembly.
The works and legacies of our monarchs are legendary and noteworthy.
Today under the American system, we are concerned about our lands, culture, people and lifestyle which has been under attack for over a hundred years.
This gets us angry as more Hawaiians desire total independence as a result.
The Kingdom of Hawai`i is not only Native Hawaiians but subjects of non-Hawaiian blood who were legitimate subjects of the Kingdom.
This racial argument is an American thing and not a Hawaiian thing.
So our concerns are well within our scope to protect all our subjects of the Kingdom.
We do expect reparations and restitution from the US for the injurious damages to our nation, land and people.
The US government is well aware of this and is attempting a piecemeal settlement.
If the tables were turned around; which would you do? I'm sure it wouldn't be a hard decision.
Remember, Hawaiians never hated Americans; but only those that did harm to us and the US government for its complicity and deceit.
We were never afraid that another country would take us over; we had over twenty-four treaties with various countries but the US is the only country that broke their treaties with us."

AN HAWAIIAN PATRIOT ON THE MEANING OF INDEPENDENCE
In response to "July 4 notable for two nations that are one," I remind us all of how George W. Bush misled the people and U.S. Congress into believing that the U.S. had legal justification - WMDs, ties to 9/11 attacks, etc. - to invade Iraq.
More than 4,000 U.S. troops and a million innocent Iraqi civilians have been killed to date.
By misleading the people and U.S. Congress, are George W. Bush and his administration responsible for these deaths?
So we are not misled. The Native Hawaiians were a people and government recognized in 1842 as an independent state by the United States and the international community well before Jan. 17, 1893, an achievement made by diplomacy, not war.
The Fourth of July celebration of American independence is a celebration by the victors of war against tyranny and oppression.
Like the case for invading Iraq, the basis of Kenneth Conklin's so-called revolution (aka overthrow) of 1893, the Republic of Hawai`i, the Treaty Annexation (1898) and Hawai`i Statehood Act (1959) are all fraudulent....
Hawai`i Superferry has spent $210,000 since last summer to lobby for federal money to install features on its second high-speed catamaran to make it more attractive for military use....
Superferry paid Blank Rome LLC, a prominent law and lobbying firm, to try to obtain federal money through the National Defense Features program to cover the cost of improvements to its second catamaran under construction at the Austal USA shipyard in Mobile, Ala.
The defense program covers the installation of militarily useful features on commercial ships if the owners agree to make the ships available to the military during emergencies.
OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS KEEPS HOMELESS FROM SHELTER
More Homeless Created By Agencies Actions
The state's Next Step shelter in Kaka`ako is turning homeless people away almost nightly, even though it has room for about 160 people, because officials don't want to fill up the facility while its future is unclear.
Now, state officials are trying to find a new site for Next Step before the Office of Hawaiian Affairs needs the property sometime next year.
The shelter has a month-to-month lease for its warehouse from the Hawai`i Community Development Authority, which has promised the space to OHA for its new headquarters.

OHA WRONG TO PUSH AKAKA BILL
Support Voiced For Hawaiian Constitutional Convention
Let me humbly remind us all that Queen Lili`uokalani did not endure the criminal imprisonment, humility and perversion of justice by members of her own Cabinet and foreign culprits of the United States Government the last 24 years of her life, only to have her surviving people consent to colonial-assimilation in the form of U.S. Federal Recognition (e.g. The Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act)...
Queen Liliuokalani left each of us the freedom of choice, and no amount of coercion and/or guilt-trip anyone try’s to throw at me will steal away this legacy left by our tupunas (elders...)
For the record, I am in support of the Hawaiian Constitutional Convention presently being organized by Bumpy Kanahele. I believe this is where we as ethnic Hawaiians and native Hawaiian Nationals must convene, unite and decide the path to take for our children’s future and our survival....
I do not give my consent to OHA and their various campaigns promoting Federal Recognition of native Hawaiians; nor do I give my consent to the United States of America and the State of Hawai`i; nor do I give my consent to the planned/and actual celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Hawai`i Statehood in 2009.
No matter how one may rationalize, paint, spin, even coerce upon the minds of native Hawaiians that any celebration of Hawai`i Statehood is acceptable and/or pono is destructively insulting, to say the least, and a condoning and perpetuation of criminal fraud and the on-going complicity of genocide.
In short, you celebrate Hawai`i Statehood…you a criminal. PERIOD! No if, ands or buts....

NEW `IOLANI PALACE RULES PUT IN PLACE
US Now Prohibits "Illegal Occupations"
The Hawai`i state Board of Land and Natural Resources quietly approved new rules last month that specifically prohibit "unauthorized occupation" of `Iolani Palace and other buildings on the palace grounds.
The actions of a group that called itself the Hawaiian Kingdom Government was "a wake-up call for the department that it was time to move forward with specific rules to protect and preserve the ... grounds for future preservation," said Laura Thielen, Land Board chairwoman.

FUEL COSTS SINKING SUPERFERRY
Ill-Fated Ship Still Running Way Below Capacity
As with the airlines, the Superferry did not envision $5 gallon diesel fuel.
Thus, it does not have a financially viable business model that can sustain the now astronomical cost of fuel and unforseen low ridership.
