WHY ITʻS TIME TO END THE ILLEGAL US OCCUPATION OF HAWAI`I

Native Hawaiians constitute roughly 22 per cent of the state population, but they represent 54 per cent of the prison population.

They also have the lowest per capita income, the highest poverty rate and the shortest lifespan of any ethnic group in Hawai`i.

Hawai`i public school students receive very poor education by any standard of measurement. They consistently rank among the lowest of any state in test scores.

Most of the bright students who manage to learn something in spite of the handicapped school system leave Hawai`i for foreign colleges and careers.

Tens of thousands of residents have no medical insurance at all.

In some cases, the lives of the working poor are worse than the unemployed.

MEN WITH A MISSION ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

Our Free Hawai`i TV video last week featuring Kaleo Farias, the Office of Hawaiian Affair’s former number one recruiter for Kau Inoa, brought more response than any other we have ever aired.

After watching Kaleo recant his support for the Kau Inoa registry and urging everyone to remove their names by visiting UnKauInoa.org, many viewers were upset. Many felt they had been lied to by OHA. Many had questions. Many asked to see more.

We’re bringing Kaleo back again this week on Free Hawai`i TV with more new information on what he saw inside of OHA and Kau Inoa that changed his mind, how he feels about what he did, and more insider details sure to amaze and surprise. It’s all coming this Wednesday on Free Hawai`i TV – don’t miss it.

Imagine returning to Maui after living in Las Vegas and meeting someone who delivers a startling message about your future. Then imagine being visited by the ancient ancestors who reveal your mission.

That’s what happened to Vernon Kalanikau, and he shares his amazing story with us in our newest Voices Of Truth. It’s certainly not something that happens to everyone, but he shares it with us all this week on Hawai`i’s award winning Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i's Future.

SPEAKING OUT & GAINING CLOUT ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

UnKau Inoa continues to grow in popularity daily spreading far and wide.

People are realizing they were deceived by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs into signing onto Kau Inoa, a list that supports federal recognition – a process to legalize the theft of the Hawaiian Nation and lands, and they are now not only removing their names, but they’re actually speaking out urging others to do the same.

We feature one of those individuals with a very special message for everyone this coming Wednesday on Free Hawai`i TV. Don’t miss it.

Then visit UnKauInoa.org and check out new photos posted all the time of supporters wearing their UnKau Inoa t-shirts.

Want one of your own? Just click on the Order UnKau Inoa T-Shirts link to get one. Then send us your picture at UnKauNow@UnKauInoa.org and we’ll post it.

We have a brand new Voices Of Truth show this week featuring KAHEA’s Marti Townsend. When you watch our visit with her, you’ll see why the job of protecting Hawai`i’s fragile and precious environment is in very good hands.

Marti’s a prime example of someone who heard the call to help create a better Hawai`i and answered. We’re pleased to share her with you this week on Hawai`i’s award winning Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i's Future.

MONDAY, November 9th At 6:30 PM Maui – Akaku, Channel 53
MONDAY, November 9th At 7:00 PM & FRIDAY, November 13th At 5:30 PM Hawai`i Island – Na Leo, Channel 53

“Answering The Call – A Visit With Marti Townsend”

Long-time champion of the land Marti Townsend has the perfect job. As KAHEA’s program director, Marti has helped design some of Hawai`i’s most significant environmental legislation. Not only a keen detective for what’s at risk, you’ll discover she also knows what’s possible - Hawai`i as the shining example for the world on how to get it right – Watch It Here

THE AKAKA BILL VS. A FREE HAWAI`I

The People Are Not Fooled

Big Island Weekly - September 16, 2009

"...That issue" was the Akaka Bill, which would set up a framework for creating a native Hawaiian governmental body that the U.S. would recognize....

...The Danners' presentation was repeatedly interrupted by sovereignty supporters who disagreed with the bill's language and/or content....

"...You're actually allowing the perpetuity of an illegal system," argued one sovereignty supporter.

"It's just another form of capture," said another of the Akaka Bill framework....

"It's as though you're creating a wholly separate government for a fictitious Hawaiian people," said Gumapac....

"...The people who are pushing this bill are trying to divide the Hawaiian people," contended Rev. Ron Fujimoto, a non-Hawaiian who has worked for years with Hawaiian groups....

AKAKA BILL - IF IT'S SO GOOD, WHY ARE THEY AFRAID TO TELL YOU MORE?

I still don’t support the Akaka Bill because of the shadiness that is surrounding it.

Why aren’t there meetings and Q&A sessions hosted on every Island where the people can come to ask questions and get answers regarding this bill?

And if there were, why aren’t there any more?

It’s about education- it would be irresponsible of OHA to support this bill without educating the prime group that this bill would affect the most.

And if it happened already, it should be happening more....

HOW DID HAWAIIANS BECOME OUTCASTS IN THEIR OWN LAND ?

Here's What The History Books Won't Tell You -

Western diseases, to which Hawaiians had no immunity, decimated their numbers. At the time of western contact, some 800,000 people inhabited the Hawaiian Islands.

By 1805 that number had been halved.

By 1853 there were only 71,000 Hawaiian or part-Hawaiian people in the islands.

Within 100 years of western contact, the Hawaiian population had been reduced by nearly 90 percent.

According to the 2000 census, the numbers of people who claim some native Hawaiian ancestry have increased to over 400,000. But only 239,000 live in Hawai`i and they are the poorest, most locked-up population in the state.

Although they only make up about 20 percent of the state's population, in June 2001 they made up 39 percent of the state's prison population, according to the state Department of Public Safety.

Sadly, they make up 37 percent of the state's homeless population.
