WHY IS INDEPENDENCE BETTER FOR HAWAI`I THAN KANA`IOLOWALU?
The Native Hawaiian Roll has been not only a colossal failure, it is yesterday's solution.
Hawaiians, both at home and abroad, have made it clear they do not support this "solution."
It's whole purpose was to once again go hat in hand to the US federal government for help thereby turning Hawaiians inward and against each other in their own land.
For more than 100 years, this has not worked.
Instead, we now have the opportunity to create a Free Hawai`i, a dynamic new nation through which we can maintain our culture and values, have control over our future and be a leader again among the Pacific nations.
Dare we say no? Dare we not do this?

The United States acquired Hawai`i through force.
Queen Lili`uokalani, Hawai`i's last Queen, was deposed on January 17, 1893, by a group of American businessmen supported by the United States Navy and Marine Corps and diplomatic representatives.
Sovereignty of Hawai`i was allegedly transferred to the US on August 12, 1898 during ceremonies at `Iolani Palace in Honolulu, on the island of O`ahu by a small group of foreign business men who called themselves the "committee of safety."
Hawai`i allegedly became a US territory in 1900.
On Nov. 23, 1993, The United States apologized for illegally overthrowing the Kingdom of Hawai`i, and recognized the inherent sovereignty and right of self-determination of native islanders.
Needless to say, a lot of shady events took place between January 17,1893 and August 21, 1959.
There is not one document or shred of evidence to show that any land was transferred or given to the US by the Hawaiian Kingdom.
History Clearly Shows The Hawaiian Nation Wasn't Annexed - It Was Stolen

Cobell Case Settled - At Pennies to the Dollar
Here's what's in store for Hawai`i if the Akaka bill becomes law.
The Obama administration has agreed to spend $3.4 billion to settle litigation filed on behalf of hundreds of thousands of American Indians who claimed the government cheated them out of billions of dollars in oil, gas, mining and timber royalties over more than a century.
The settlement is far short of the $47 billion that the plaintiffs estimated they were owed as a result of the government's mismanagement.
Elouise Cobell, a member of the Blackfeet Nation who filed suit 13 years ago to force the government to pay up, said the settlement isn't fair, but it was time to compromise.
"We suffered too long in the government's hands and now it's time for change," Cobell said.
