ALOHA MAI KAKOU!
WELCOME IF YOU'RE VISITING FREEHAWAII.INFO FOR THE FIRST TIME!

Free Hawai`i means returning the Hawaiian Islands back to an independent nation status, as it was before it was illegally overthrown by US marines and rich sugar barons in 1893.

In 1993, President Clinton formally apologized for that act and publicly acknowledged the illegality of the overthrow.

DID YOU KNOW -

98% of all Hawaiians living at the time opposed the illegal overthrow!

Today, less than 20% of all land in Hawai`i is in Hawaiian hands. Over 60% today is in non-Hawaiian hands!

A few individuals, who are non-Hawaiian, lease an amount of land in Hawai`i that is greater than all land leased to all Native Hawaiians!

Currently, only 72 landowners control 95% of all land in Hawai`i.

Native Hawaiians make up the largest percentage of homeless in Hawai`i today.

Native Hawaiians have the worst social, educational and economic indicators compared to any ethnic group in the US.

Native Hawaiians currently have the worst health profile compared to any ethnic group in the US.

Descendants of the Hawaiian Nation want their country and land back so they can grow their own foods, become healthy once again, and control their own destiny.

Hawai`i Was A Free Nation - But Never Free For The Taking!

SACRED PLACES OF ASTOUNDING HISTORY ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

Have you ever had a place speak to you?

Many of us would say yes, and that place would be somewhere in Hawai`i, no doubt.

But then there are others for whom a place is so special, they feel compelled to become directly connected to it, to malama, (take care,) of it.

Such a person is Junior Kanuha.

Junior’s place is Keolonahihi in North Kona – a place of ancient learning and astounding history.

But rather than us tell you, we’ll let Junior do that in one of our brand new segments.

He’s yet another individual who’s doing his part to help ensure a better future for Hawai`i and we’ve got his story for you right here on Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

MONDAY, November 13th At 7:00 PM & FRIDAY, November 17th At 5:30 PM Hawai`i Island – Na Leo, Channel 54
WEDNESDAY, November 15th At 6:30 PM & THURSDAY, November 16th At 6:45 AM Maui – Akaku, Channel 53
THURSDAY, November 16th At 8:30 PM & FRIDAY, November 17th At 8:30 AM Kaua`i – Ho`ike, Channel 52
SATURDAY, November 18th At 8:00 PM O`ahu - ‘Olelo, Channel 53
“Sacred Caretaker – A Visit With Junior Kanuha”

Every now and then we come across someone who feels the call of a place and is moved to do something about it.

Junior Kanuha, Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) with deep roots in North Kona, Moku o Keawe (Hawai`i Island) is just such a person.

Waterman, businessman, community activist and energetic supporter of all things Hawaiian, Junior’s made a personal commitment to cleaning up and caring for wahi pana kahiko, ancient sacred sites.

Keolonahihi in North Kona is the place he cares for – both figuratively and literally. Here’s the extraordinary part – no one asked him to.

Junior tells us he’s just following spiritual direction – he says he’s only the gardener, the caretaker, ka hapai opala, the guy who hauls off the trash.

Don’t miss Junior as he explains not only what he does but also why he does it, revealing along the way the history and significance of this extraordinary place of beauty and ancient history.

NATIVE HAWAIIAN HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS DOCUMENTED

Report To United Nations Available For All To See

A two day conference,
"The Rights Of Native Hawaiians As Indigenous Peoples To Self-Determination Under International Human Rights Law And U.S. Domestic Law," concludes today at University of Hawai`i Manoa.

Earlier this year a Shadow Report detailing on-going human rights violations against Native Hawaiians since the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom was filed with the Human Rights Committee at the United Nations.

So that everyone can understand the background to this groundbreaking work, we have posted several of the documents, along with the final Shadow Report itself here
http://wisperhawaii.com/~kaiopua/

The reports demonstrate the historic and continuing violation of our people’s right to self-governance and self-determination that predates the overthrow and continues to the present.

We encourage everyone to take the time to read the materials in order to understand the status and significance of bringing a
Free Hawai`i to the world stage.

WHY YOUR VOTES COUNTS THIS TUESDAY ON VOICES OF TRUTH - ONE-ON-ONE WITH HAWAI`I'S FUTURE

The hour is now at hand.

This Tuesday each Hawai`i resident will be able to cast their vote for Office of Hawaiian Affairs Trustees.

Never before has an OHA trustee election represented such an important crossroads for the future of Hawai`i and its people.

This Tuesday, we urge you and everyone you know to request the OHA ballot and vote for one candidate and one candidate alone – Dennis Bumpy Kanahele.

Bumpy represents the best of what Hawai`i has to offer. See for yourself at http://BumpyKanahele.com

Bumpy will help stop the chronic corruption and financial mismanagement that has characterized OHA for years.

Bumpy has a financial banking plan to enable Hawaiians to become financially self-sufficient.

Bumpy will insist OHA actually serve Hawaiians, rather than keep them in servitude.

And most importantly, Bumpy believes that ensuring the well being of Hawai`i’s First People will not come at the expense of any one else.

Forward this to everyone you know in Hawai`i.

Ask them to vote Tuesday for the Native Son servant of all Hawai`i’s people – Dennis Bumpy Kanahele.

And due to your many requests, we showcase Bumpy on this week’s Voices Of Truth – One-On-One With Hawai`i’s Future.

MONDAY, November 6th At 7:00 PM & FRIDAY, November 10th At 5:30 PM Hawai`i Island – Na Leo, Channel 54

SATURDAY, November 11th At 8:00 PM O`ahu - ‘Olelo, Channel 53
“Unsettled Spirit – A Visit With Bumpy Kanahele”

We feature one of Hawai`i's long time sovereignty fighters, and founder of both Pu`uhonua O Waimanalo and Nation of Hawai`i.

Bumpy shares with us an aspect of himself that not everyone knows; not only what got him involved in creating a better future for the people of Hawai`i.

We promise you'll want more as Bumpy tells how his years growing up actually helped to mold him as a leader today who is both strong and wise.

You’ll be able to see why he’s the very best candidate for OHA trustee.

Filmed on location at Pu`uhonua O Waimanalo, Bumpy is 100% inspiration in a setting of stunning beauty and also an example of what all of Hawai`i could be.

HERE'S WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD THE AKAKA BILL BECOME LAW

Bush Seeks Dramatic Changes To Escape Liability Of Wrongdoing

Indinaz.com -Tuesday, October 24, 2006

The Bush administration is proposing sweeping changes to the Cobell settlement bill that would phase out the federal government's trust management responsibilities and force consolidation of Indian lands.

Within 10 years, the Interior Department would no longer manage the 54
million acres held in trust for individual Indians and tribes.

The goal is to turn
the system into a "beneficiary- managed" trust for which the United States cannot be held liable for any damage claims.

To facilitate the major shift, the administration wants to consolidate the
Indian land base through voluntary and involuntary mechanisms.

Highly
fractionated parcels would be whittled down to just 10 owners in the next 10 years.

And the administration is asking Congress to resolve all tribal trust claims
in addition to the Cobell suit over the Individual Indian Money trust....

Jim Cason, the associate deputy secretary at Interior, has advocated for the
resolution of all tribal and individual Indian trust claims.

David
Bernhardt, the recently-confirmed solicitor, has lobbied Congress to limit the liability of the United States....

More than two dozen tribes subsequently filed lawsuits for accounting,
mismanagement and related claims. But some cases -- notably the Navajo Nation's $1.8 billion claim -- have been pending in court for years longer than Cobell
or the more recent tribal suits.

HOW HAWAI`I TREATS HAWAIIANS - THE CONCLUSION

By Will Hoover - The Honolulu Advertiser

Stanlyn Placencia said government officials should be talking less about creating "affordable housing," and speaking more about creating "affordable rentals."

"Everything is snapping," she said. "Our services are stretched thin. We have good, decent people who can't get a good, decent place to live."

Jordan believes the coast's homeless predicament could be substantially eased if the state would open a temporary homeless transitional shelter in Wai`anae similar to "Next Step," recently opened in Kaka`ako.

"It could be a mini-shelter, smaller in scale," Jordan said. "Instead of 200 people, the facility could maybe accommodate, say, 75 to 90 people."

Jordan acknowledged that there's no facility available in the area, such as the warehouse that was converted into the Kaka`ako shelter. But she said a large, stabilized tent structure could work.

Reminded that the concept resembles the "Camp Hope" model residents three years ago screamed would become a "dumping ground" that would transform Wai`anae into the "homeless capital of Hawai`i," Jordan said, "Look at what they've got now.

"I think our community is ready for something like that. I think the people would be responsive...."

"We could see how this is working at Next Step and how it would work best in other parts of the island," he said.

Placencia said: "I believe our community is ready for anything right now."
